And you think you have had a bad year. @_@

Post by Gonzai »

This is a short sotry about my son Josh, who seems
to be having just a banner year of bad luck. Lets start
back at the beginning of the year with flooding on the
Rock River (Yep - he lives right on the river in Moline, IL).

http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2008/03 ... 171216.txt

It was a move in/move out situation for at least a
month there, as ice jams up north kept flooding the
area where they live.

Ok, we get through that, and get people in to clean and
dissenfect, now its back to the good life of living on the river.
Well, that was until the June flooding:

http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2008/06 ... 750930.txt

Yep, more water in the yard and basement. Out of the
house they go again. This time for around 4 days.
One more time the cleaning crew comes to clean and
dissenfect.

Well, with all the rain behind them, life should go on
pretty easy, right?? Well, thanks to Rich (we won't say
what happened), Josh is put under more stress at the
beginning of July. Its ok, he's strong - life goes on, right??

Well sure, except the economy has taken a serious dive,
and people aren't putting new roofs on their houses this
year, so bye bye roofing job. He just got laid off last
Thursday. -_- Its ok mom, I will find another job, and
by George, he did - started right away yesterday. Sweet!!
Things are looking up. ^_^

Well, that is until his grandma dies on Saturday. This was
his dad's mom, and the one tie he had to that side of the
family since his father died back in 1988. Its a devastating
blow. Holy crap, things just can't get any worse. -_-

Well, no - unless you consider a tree falling on your house
and another on your garage as things getting worse. >_<
That's right, we had a terrible storm pass through our area
early Monday morning with wind gusts in some area's (Josh's)
as high as 94 mph.

http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2008/07 ... 235679.txt

They expect to be out of power for a few more days. Of
course, they had just bought $350 worth of groceries Sunday
night, but not to fret, they got them all packed up and moved
out of their house along with themselves. -_-

Now think back - Josh just started a new job yesterday. There
were trees down on the road (He lives off of John Deere Road,
right in the area that is currently closed), so he was about an hour
late. Though, I am sure he is getting much satisfaction in the
fact that his old company just laid a bunch off, and now the roof
business should be booming for awhile. @_@

Hopefully things will look up for him after the funeral tommorrow.
It will take a few days before the power is restored to his house,
and unfortunately, it will be a little more difficult to clean up after
this natural disaster, but luckily he is a strong person. ^_^

I'm so sorry about your son's troubles Gonzai. What a horrible round of luck... reminds me of my 2007/early 2008 year. But it sounds like he and his family remained pretty much unharmed (from the flooding and storms) which is such a blessing, as well as to have the people you love so close in times likes these... I can only imagine how much it helps having them around.

I sincerely hope things start looking better for your son and his family. They are in my thoughts/prayers.

:friends: This is a rough time for sure, but your son has a great family support system. Stick together, and good things will happen.

:ghug:

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers are with your family.

Wow that's horrible Nida. Poor Josh. Time to move away from that river. Thank goodness you're there for him. And I'm glad he found another job. I'm sorry about your mother-in-law. Hopefully things will start turning soon.

My sentiments exactly.
It really is great that through all the troubles mother-nature caused, every one escaped unharmed. I hope he is able to handle his grandmothers passing well. With all his other stress that could be a really tough one.

Oh man. 8O I hope things turn around for Josh and his family. I'm just glad they are all safe and no one was hurt from the trees hitting the house. I think he's met his quota for the year of bad things.

My goodness. I certainly hope for a turn in their situation for the better. A lot of people are being bombarded with things right now due to the economy, but to pile up all of those situations on top of that is more than I could take. Thanks for sharing that story. I think we all get a little mired in our own problems and we forget that it is all relative. My best to your family.

I really hope things get better for Josh and his family from here on out. That is a tremendous amount to happen in such a short period of time. Thankfully no one has been injured with all that's happened. I know you are always there to give him love and support.
