please help me sleep
Hi! Thank you for your replies so far. The ideas are greatly appreciated. Please keep them coming. ^_^
As for the specialist, I want to go see one, but the funds simply aren't there for it. Between health issues, flooding, and work lay-offs. My finances are still quite tight atm. They are looking better, but the money is still tight.
With exercise, I have tried exercise. Not weight lifting or anything like that... but I do own a Gazelle (soooo much fun) and I like using that. However, one would think my job would be enough to tire me out... working 12hrs in a hot factory, bending, lifting, stretching... and so on. I'm not able to sleep after work either, even with using the Gazelle.
I will definitely look into the Melatonin.

I have problems with not being able to sleep. I stayed up without sleep for a week before at a time. It's been a long time since that happened.
The last few times I wasn't able to sleep was more of a only three hours a night or only 9 hours in a week.
Walking would be that I would recommend.
Best I learned was when I walk every day especially in the evening, and outside not on a treadmill, that the fresh air helps me to calm down and gets me tired.
I would look for a professional to get some help though.
I have talked to one, but I can't take any meds like other people can.
So I have to do with natural things and herbs (which again I can't take just anything of those either).

I'm with you, Kata. Living in the deep south, it's much harder for me to stay awake in the summer. All I want to do when it's so hot and muggy is fall asleep.Kata wrote:I have the opposite problem. When it's hot I can't seem to stay awake.cutiebunny wrote:When it's hotter, it's more common for people to have problems sleeping. You could try placing a fan directly in front of you when you sleep, or, if energy costs are a problem, put some cold water on a towel and place that behind your neck. That should help cool you down.![]()

I'm one of those people whose mind races. I find this normally happens when I'm stressed about something. If you can deal with what's bothering you (like maybe your finances), then you might be able to sleep peacefully again. In the meantime (because it's easier to say that than do it), here's what I do. I have my tv on a sleep timer. I keep the volume barely audible and tuned to something I've seen a million times that I will watch. I'll find myself drifting off into la-la-land in no time flat.

Hope something works for you soon!

Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

Agreed. As a single and not searching woman, I couldn't have said it better myself.Gonzai wrote:Since when do you need a man, or even a partner for that matter,I don't have a man so sex is out of the question
in order to have sex....?
I also agree with Cutiebunny. When I have a particularly hard work out it always knocks me out with in the hour. *not good when you work out in the mornings and you still have to go to work*
I had a really bad case of insomnia for about a month. I had plans to visit my friends in Miami (a 5 hour drive from Tampa), and I desperately wanted to sleep before making the drive but even after all that time I still couldn't sleep. I stayed at the guys house (on the couch) and still couldn't sleep so I watched movies *Really quietly* until everyone else woke up. We then went to "tail gate" all mid day in the Miami sun, and then to a concert. So for me spending all day drinking and being out in the sun ended up doing the trick. I sat myself down in the yard and fell asleep to Three Doors Down singing me a lullaby. Of course, my friends woke me up for Godsmack (who were Really awesome), and when we went back to the house I slept like a baby.

Well, first you have to figure out why you cannot sleep lately. Going to a sleep clinic can help with that but if you don't have the money, just think about what has changed lately that would cause you to no be able to sleep. Are you worrying about a lot of stuff? Are you stressed? Have you started any new medications?
And what are you doing when you are "not sleeping?" Do you just lay awake in your bed? Do you get up and watch TV? If you can't sleep I suggest just getting up and doing stuff. Clean the house, get some things done. The worst thing you can do is lay awake in your bed staring up at the celing. Just stay up and keep active until you are absolutely so tired that you can't keep your eyes open. Your body will need to sleep sometime.

Do I look like STRESSED ? As a robot I am not capable of lying.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

This may sound a little strange but try a couple of aspirin half an hour before bedtime. It functions as a mild relaxant and will take away some of the aches and pains from work. I started taking aspirin as a precaution for heart problems as they recommend for someone my age and my sleeping improved.
Melatonin may help, but only until you have built up enough to make up for a deficiency. If you continue taking it it will cause your body to produce less naturally and that is not good in the long run.
You may also have a hydration issue that has started with the summer heat. Just replacing water is not enough in high summer heat and although you may feel OK it will interfere with sleep.
Good luck beating this.

perhaps thats part of your problem? when youre going through a really stressful time (espically when it concerns finances) in your life that can rob you of peace and sleep.HotIce wrote: As for the specialist, I want to go see one, but the funds simply aren't there for it. You said you tried fans..Did you use them to cool off...or did you get infront of one and stare at it? I find that staring at a fan (and don't ask how I ended up doing that XD) Made my eyes dried up, so then i get sleepy...
You could also eat LOTS and Lots of Turkey...I hear it has something that makes you sleepy....
