Neptune close-up shot is fan cel
Hello everyone.
In case you are considering bidding on this auction, please know that it's a fan cel.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... AQ:US:1123
It was purchased on YJ and the listing clearly identified it as a fan cel:
http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w25244931
The picture is no longer there. However, this YJ seller bought the cel from someone else on YJ back in March and although that listing is gone from YJ's servers, I had saved it at the time complete with pictures. The original seller stated that they bought it at an Intex Osaka event and that it had been made by a private person. If you'd like to see that file, please PM me.
I'm guessing the eBay seller wasn't aware of the meaning of "doujin cel." I have tried contacting them twice with this information, but have received no reply.
Please take this into account before bidding.

You're right about the top. Here are the original seller's pics:chibikitty2045 wrote:I saw the same auction on YJ. The top was not cut off.

I don't have the pic from the second YJ auction, but as far as I remember the cel did not have a sequence number and was not trimmed. I was trying to give the eBay seller the benefit of the doubt, but it does look like they cut off the top to make people think it's a trimmed production cel.

Has anyone tried reporting this to ebay? This person is clearly stating that it is a real cel and NOT a fancel. Look at the questions that have been asked by potential buyers that she has allowed others to view under the cel pic.
No bueno. How can they say they never sell fancels when they can not even figure out the Japanese from the original auction. o_O no bueno.

I just recently won an auction from this same seller. It seems like they have very positive feedback on everything else. I'm hopeful that this was a simple misunderstanding of someone who doesn't know how to look for fan cels, and didn't want to believe they'd made a mistake.
Here's the auction I won:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0266840052
If anyone has the original scan from Yahoo Japan, I'd love to see it. One of the reasons I was willing to purchase the cel without a better picture was because I'd seen it on Yahoo Japan, and it seemed legitimate to me.
I guess I'll know for sure when it arrives. I've commissioned fan cels from some very talented artists, so I'm sure I can spot a fake easily enough.

Katrina - I sent the image to the e-mail address given on your web site. You don't have to worry about the authenticity of this cel. It came from a well-known YJ cel dealer and there's nothing questionable about the listing.
The Neptune cel was a different case as it was clearly identified as a fan cel in two YJ listings. The eBay seller never replied to my messages and didn't correct the description. If the picture was still up in the more recent YJ listing (or if I had saved it) I would have reported it to eBay. I did send a message to the winner, who is apparently from France, to make sure they knew what they were buying. There was no reply. I can only hope it was an intentional purchase of a fan cel.
I suppose the eBay seller may not have originally meant to mislead buyers, but in the end that's what they did. Perhaps they will know better next time.

The cel arrived today - it is an authentic cel (the same one sold on YJ). Just wanted to follow up and let everyone know about my full experience with this sale.
I had been going back and forth with chibichibi_randi (Brennan D on Rubberslug) about originally trading for the cel, and then suggested just purchasing it. She suggested a price that was a bit lower than what it started on Ebay for a week later. Granted, I delayed in responding, so I guess you could say I should've gone for it while it was there, but at the same time, I was disappointed that I got no warning about the cel going to Ebay.
There were also a couple shipping issues, I paid for Priority Mail and got 1st class instead, and the cel was put directly into a bubble mailer, with no cardboard to hold it firm. Luckily, the post office seems to have handled it gently, so no damage there. I mentioned these issues to her so hopefully future buyers will not have them.
Basically, the seller does have some nice and authentic cels, but if you are making a private offer, make sure you respond in a timely matter or give a date of, "I'll let you know by such-and-such." Also, make sure you request the cel to be packaged in something firm with insurance so you can get the value back if the post office mishandles it.
Hope this is helpful to everyone.

It has been listed again. And again, there is no mention of this being a fan cel.

The eBay ID is new (ccgirl-79) but it's clearly the same seller - Brennan D. aka foreverneptune, chibichibi_randi.
