Although I know he wouldn’t care in the slightest (after all, it didn’t bother him to be passed over as the family’s heir in favor of his younger brother)

I can’t just walk away from a character

so cluelessly searching for affection

….and so very unlikely to ever get it in the manga…

My first vote is for Illumi Zaoldyeck –Hunter x Hunter

AND...

at the other end of the spectrum…

I’m sure it would really rankle him (he never got over not being chosen as fourth Hokage) to be at the bottom of this list.

But I can’t imagine the manga would have been half

the work it was without his driving, powerful presence
(and has anyone else wondered how he would have handled the Kyuubi

- or the Uchiha situation?

Not that it would
have been possible to use a more draconian measure in the latter case).

So my second vote goes to Orochimaru – Naruto

That leaves me with five votes, and about fifteen other characters I love

Well, Aido seems to be doing pretty well on his own, so no need for advertising at this point.

But poor Hotaru!

Guess it's time to step it up a notch.
