I sleep better at night not knowing. It's not that I regret my purchases (any regrets have already been sold), but with a new member of the family here, my priorities have changed quite a bit. If I think about how much it could be worth, I'll be one step closer to putting the whole thing up for sale.

I like Hayward's quote Sensei posted; it's true.

I don't think the initial outlay of buying a cel is too important, it's just something you have to do in order to get the artwork you want. Spending $10 or $10,000 on a single cel can be inconsequential if you get the same level of enjoyment from it.

For long-term collectors, as GrayMouser says, passing the $50,000 expenditure could be easy. It'd be interesting to evaluate how much the collection is now worth in comparrison to what was actually spent on it.

I gave up counting a few years ago and couldn't even hazard a guess for insurance purposes- that in itself is frightening.

My blood, sweat, and tears!!!!

I know I've gone over the $1000 mark now. I'd like to think that I'm still under the $5000 one, but I'm probably close to (if not over) it. I once tried to add up all my prices, but then I got bored. :P

These results are closer to how I figured they might be compared to the last time this subject was brought up.

The discussion didn't go as deeply into the topic the last time. I'm glad the topic went further this time.
