I think that may be too long. Especially for the folks planning on taking their layout down to put up a Thanksgiving one.

But, I don't really have any ideas on how the voting should go either. :emb

I figured since I have some time off I'd add a couple more 'candys' for everyone enjoyment! ^_^

The 2 votes is fine, and a final vote between the winners is okay. Just need a shorter time span, I think. Say 3-4 days for each vote period maybe?

hmm. yeah you have a good point! thanks for bringing that up :) ....

lets see, um...

well you know what, i just thought of something... on the polls there's a place where you can see the actual numbers of people who have voted, not the percentages (i forgot about that fact).

how about we do the two polls and have people just pick their favorite from both instead of having them pick the favorite from each poll?
(sorry i think i made it more complicated than it needed to be in the first place... sorry about that. X| ). lol ive been wracking my brain for a week trying to figure it out and just now i remembered that it tells the number, not just the percentages.

OOOOkay,
so, ill have two polls but people can look through both of them and pick their one favorite from the two.
yeah simple is good. :D lol.

how about i have it up till wed of next week (5 days)?

As long as everyone who votes knows to look at both polls and choose one between both polls and doesn't just vote in both polls or so on. If I make sense. :)

my concern is more of a fact of people reading directions... from my experience with the cel around the globe project and helping toni last year with the beta awards... there's a lot of diving in head first w/out reading. =\

With time constraints for people who want to do Thanksgiving layouts, makes what to do a tough choice.... the only other option was a shorter period of time to hold the polls.

oh dont worry about it! :)
the voting will be all finished on wed ( i was making room for if anyone was out of town for the holiday so they could have a chance to vote). and thats just the 5th of Nov..
so someone could start thinking of what they want to do with their layout and start working on graphics perhaps, then on the 5th they could start putting it up (since i think by tues most people will have voted).

and for people diving in head first, of course you cant keep someone from just voting for thier favorite from both catagories, but ill try to make it clear as i can so there will be no misunderstandings.

thanks for your help Laura! :)

I tried to vote for myself twice and couldn't figure out how to do it.

:bawl

(Seriously, like John McCain, I voted for someone else. I did do a little tweak at the last minute to move my "Featured Cel/Sketch" section up to the top. When I looked at the others, I realized that my Halloween choices were just too far down the page to have any street appeal. Kinda like having lots of candy but a long, unlighted walkway up to the house.)

Seriously, not that it matters. I'm sure he did if he said so, but he knows his vote won't do anything to win Obama points. Why? Well, he's one of AZ's current senators. AZ is traditionally a red state, and considering how Americans in general always think that the senate is incompetant but their own senator is intelligent, there's very little chance that McCain won't win AZ.

So, if he did vote for Obama or someone else (are there any third-party candidates this year?) he just did it as a publicity stunt and to be cute. :P

EDIT: Btw, just wanted to point out that this is not a political post at all. I'm not trying to criticize McCain. I'm just from AZ, so I know that if McCain voted for someone else, chances are very, very high that he will still win the electoral votes for our state.

I was being facetious, too, though it sure looked on SNL like he was very graciously conceding. The threat to go to the "double maverick" strategy if all else failed was really very funny, and I can't imagine that he didn't at least approve Tina Fey's incisive bit on "Palin going rogue" which speaks volumes about his jaundiced view of what his VP pick did for his election chances.

But, for the record, the last two polls reported showed that Obama had come to within 1 or 2 percentage points of McCain in Arizona, which is closer than McCain has come to Obama in Pennsylvania (where I'm getting up before dawn to vote). If the Grand Canyon starts running blue, that will be more of a shock than North Carolina or Indiana.

So McCain better vote for himself!

Hehh My kids voted in school today. I made it a point not to tell either of them who I (or my husband) was voting for. I wanted them to be able to think for themselves without feeling the need to go one way or the other...
My daughter ended up voting for Obama because she liked his stands on Education and Healthcare for kids. My son voted for Obama since Obama lives in Illinois. And then he mentioned that Obama has black hair. I found it odd that he used Obama's full name and only called McCain by his last name. Anyways... Our family is a bit odd in itself... my husband's side is traditionally Republican and mostly Baptist and Protestant (unless you count the Mormons on his mother's side)... My side tends to vote Democrat and we're mostly Catholic.... Having watched a few of those mavericky debates, we both ended up leaning towards Obama.

I think I'll try looking up that skit Sensei :D

Hehh... if a person doesn't vote for themselves (website halloween poll), who will? :D
