No, not on the image itself, Zero. I wondered if it'd be possible to include that info on the page where the image is displayed. The wording would be seen just below the image. I was thinking it could be achieved via a 30-character text field on the Shikishi submission page. Just a thought although I appreciate this would be extra work on your part at short notice.zerospace wrote:What exactly do you mean, Krafty? Do you mean make the annotation on the image itself?

Krafty, if I had more time, I probably could do this (actually, I know I could), but at this short notice, no. It would require too much re-vamping of already-tested pages, and I'd be afraid I'd break them inadvertently in the process (I usually do!
)
I should take this opportunity to post the link to the site!
This year's awards site is located here:
http://betaawards08.zero-space.net
I'm sure cutiebunny will be editing the first post to contain this link as well, but I figured since it all starts tonight/tomorrow...
If anyone has any problems accessing the site, please let me know immediately! I get hit by a lot of bots and thus have many IP addresses blocked across all of my sites.
I will do my best to enable entry submission as close to midnight PST as possible! In the meantime, I would suggest that everyone planning to enter take a look at the entry instructions posted here:

As Zero pointed out, due to the nature of the website and how close the request is to the submission period, unfortunately we can not accomidate your request. Additionally, I would like to keep the catagory about judging the artistic style of the signature/accompanying original artwork rather than have it judged on one's feelings towards a particular artist/director.Krafty wrote:No, not on the image itself, Zero. yeah, hear that CB???Killua wrote:Sorry for being a spelling Nazi but I've been hearing my 7th grade teacher's ghost (don't worry, she's not really dead) tsk tsk every time I see the word category spelt as "catagory." There are a few instances of this on the submission site. Could we get this changed?
NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!!

sorry ive been around kids all day, and i still havent regained my sanity yet.

Shoot yeah, it'd be really hard to get some of these animations in under 300 kB. And that is why it's optional. Can you make it bigger Zero-space, perhaps like 1-2 MB?darksuzaku wrote:just a last minute question: I suppose the 300 Kb size limitation doesn't apply to the animated artwork category right? That's the reason why it was made an optional category right?

Folks... folks... you've had this long to make requests, etc, and now you're asking me to change the file size limit just hours before submission? The answer is emphatically no. I would have to re-program part of the site to accommodate file size limitation exclusions for just one category. And to do that just hours before I'm supposed to allow entries? I don't think so. No time to test, nothing... sorry. If this was such a concern, it should have been brought up weeks ago!
I know lots of people are used to having large images now, but 300k is way more than enough for JPG images no larger than 500 pixels wide. And I have animated GIF files that fall under that size limit.
Remember folks, this isn't an image quality contest. All images are going to be re-rendered by the server which will bring them all to the same quality, essentially. So your 500k+ images are all going to end up looking the same as my 100k images. The only exception here is the Animated category -- those images will appear exactly as they are submitted, but that doesn't exclude them from the 300k limit.
As for the spelling of "category" ... where I've had the chance, I've fixed it. For the rest, I'll see what I can do about it

I wish I had known that... the only Gif file I had was over 300 and I tried to make it smaller but it ended up ruining the entire thing! I'm so glad it's on Rubberslug or it would be gone for good!Shoot yeah, it'd be really hard to get some of these animations in under 300 kB. And that is why it's optional. I submitted mine! I had to make a decision between a cel and a sketch for the Shocked category. I wish I could have submitted one more cel... ah well.
Now will the images look bigger in the contest than after you upload them? Because it's so small one of my sketches you can hardly see.

My cat Temperance I call her Tempe for short.

My cat Seeley is a Sailor Moon fan, too!
I didn't anticipate on having a black female cat and a white male cat or I would have named them Luna and Artemis... oh well.

No worries, Bell, I know I am a horrible speller. Never learned phonics in school, so I have no clue as to how to spell or pronounce anything.
Lina, from my understanding(please correct me if I'm wrong, Zero), the images will appear on the page at 'RS Thumbnail' size. If you want, you can click on the images to see a larger version. It's the same as in previous years.
The site seems to be running quite smoothly, so hopefully no one has encountered any problems. Once again, you can submit your entries at any time during the weekend, so there is no reason to rush to make sure it's completed by 12:01 am.
