I started out with strictly Yugioh, but now Im just interested in Outlaw Star, and specific DBZ cels.

But nowadays im not too interested in cel collecting all together....Im more interested in real life now haha

I've pretty much stuck to these 4 series - Ranma, VPM, FY and RK. These were the ones that got me hooked on anime so they mean more than other series that strike my fancy. In a sense, the characters in them were the ones whom i 'grew up' with.

I don't watch much anime and the new shows are in CG (acetate over paper!) so I don't stray that much. Oh yeah, the need to conserve resources is a factor too....those 4 series can get pretty pricey :^^:

When I started collecting cels in late 2000 it was BGC cels. Here I am eight years later, and...I still pretty much exclusively collect BGC cels. So yeah, I've stayed true to my roots to a fault. There are other series I like but I'm afraid the moment I buy a cel from that series a good BGC one will come along and I then won't have the money for it =P

Absolutely not Image
And then again...maybe I did Image

What am I saying! stop confusing me! Image

I started with that unknown little show called Dragonball Z, maybe you've heard of it?
Then came Weiss Kreuz (of which I really wish people would stop calling it Weib, because the eszett (ß) is not a b) and Hunter x Hunter.

I've sold almost 70% of my collection because the images could not hold my interest and I wanted better ones.

Nowadays I still check for DBZ, HxH and Weiss though, so in a way I'm still true to my roots, but I hardly buy because the scenes I'm after either cost a fortune or are in your frickin' gallery!

For about 4 years I collected nothing but Cardcaptor Sakura, for reasons that are still true today. There's always a lot of inventory for sale, it tends to be medium-good in quality, and nice items pop up regularly. Plus the fact that there is a lot out there keeps prices moderate.

But, frankly, as I learned more about animation, I found myself looking at other galleries and learning more and more about what makes great production art, which happens at the rough/genga level rather than at the cel-painting stage. And so, little by little, I found myself browsing "all gengas" looking for lots of sketches that stopped me cold in my tracks. That led me to widen my scope considerably, buying art from a series before I knew anything about it except that the dealer's scan made me shiver all over.

That, in turn, made me more apt to look at cels for shows that were lovely in quality but not as well-known as others, and so were very good values.

This year I added some of my nicest CCS items ever. But I'm increasingly picky on this front and increasingly eclectic on other fronts. My most recent update had no CCS (VPM, MKR, TnN, and a new show, the 1984 movie "The Golden Bird"). My next update will also have no CCS (Hyper Police and Inuyasha sketches). But my "lurk list" has several CCS pieces I'm watching.

Yes, I've been true to my roots: but the gallery that's grown out of these roots is a wildly twisted and entangling Japanese honeysuckle thicket that's easy to drop into and hard to get away from.

My first six cels were from Disney, and although I still own all of them, I haven't felt any desire whatsoever to add another in quite a few years...so I'd have to answer with an unequivocal 'nope'. My roots are no longer showing.

Kinda....I suppose. I started out collecting Sailor Moon with the intention of getting some Nausicaa cels. And nowadays i've been collecting Nausicaa with the hope of getting some Sailor Moon cels. Does that count?! :D And of course I've got sidetracked by many other series along the way... :?

I collect a wide range of series and not any particular one.

My first cel was Ginrei from Giant Robo. I seem to only get cels if they look really good rather than trying to find a cel that is from a significant moment.

You all know I'm trying to get one Hotaru cel right now, so this the only instance where I'm speificially trying to find a particular character.

Also, after finishing Eyeshield 21, I am such a huge fan now that I'm trying to get any pencil sketches from that series (but only of particular characters). YA HA.

When I first started collecting, I was in it for Escaflowne. I still look for Esca cels, though they are getting harder and harder to find . . . plus my current economic situation doesn't allow for much buying. :(

Of my other, earlier series, I think Ranma 1/2 is the only one I look for regularly. I don't really have that much luck in that department, either. I've pretty much not looked for anything in my other early series (Clamp Campus Detectives, Cardcaptor Sakura, Marmalade Boy, Saint Tail) in quite a while. Two of those series I'd like to keep around, but I may eventually sell the other two off . . . not in this economy, though.

I started with a broad three tier root base, so it has been easy to stay within it. I have not purchased any DBZ in quite a while, but I picked up AnC as a logical extension of FY.
I still have very few pieces of sketch art, which means that I have not picked up any new shows in many years. Definitely still with my roots 8)

I think I'm inbetween most people on here in that I've generally stayed true to my original collecting aims, but have drifted a little here and there when I see something that particually catching my eye.

For the most part my main interest has been NS and Kawajiri in general alongside Akira. Though neither my NS or Akira collection is huge at the mo this is mainly because of the rarity and subsequent cost of buying quality cels from them. Sure you can get quite alot of Akira marerial in general, but actually finding good stuff for a reasonable price is quite hard. With NS it's harder regardless of quality, but even there I'm getting more discerning. This is why certain sections like Burn Up and VHD are larger even though they're not my main collecting focus, because it is (or was in the case of VHD) to find good cels for less.

Um... yes and no.
I started out with Ranma and a bunch of other bishies. Here, there, and everywhere.
I then suddenly focused, and it's all Ichigo and Ranma now. :bny
So, still bishies, just not as many.

I have not purchased a cel or sketch in two years now. The only reason is that good quality cels from the scenes I want have not shown up. I started out collecting Outlaw Star, but I sold those a while back to furnish my apartment. I am glad I did. I have, technically, stuck to my roots, as I continue to collect from a particular artist. Man, I remember your DBZ days, Jenn. It does seem like forever ago. Can't believe it's been nine years in the hobby. Time flies.
Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.

My gallery says no but my offline collection screams yes. Tennimon has and will continue to be my focus. My morning routine has remained the same as the day I found my obsession er.... focus.

I started out collecting from one particular series, but not long after I started I found my true love and have not turned back and continued to collect from it.
