Dark Knight Topic......Am I only one....

Post by gundamx2 »

......who thought Batman's costume was really really ugly in the Dark Knight?

Now, I know he wore 2 different costumes throughout the movie. There was the one he wore in the beginning of the film, and then he later changes his costume to a lighter one.

I liked his first costume. Was it the same costume from the 1st movie? I can't tell. He looked kinda huge with that armor on, and his mask looked good and intimidating too.

Then, when he changed to his other costume, I didn't like it. More specifically, I thought his new mask was really ugly. The ears were very short and point inward, and the design of the mask looked weird in every angle. In this costume, Batman looked smaller and less intimidating to me. He didn't seem that intimidiating during the interrogation scene.

But, don't get me wrong. I really liked the movie. Nolan's interpretation of a batman is the best to date, and guy who played Joker was too much into character, haha.

I really like Batman's fighting style. He hits hard, but also takes you out very fast. I liked the first fight scene and the fight scene at the party thing (where Batman came out of nowhere in that fully open and full of light area). I loved those gadgets he used in the first fight (the cutter to attempt to cut into the van) and whatever that device was he used to bend the tip of the gun. (When I first saw that, I was like, what the, how did he bend that gun, he's not superman, lol).

Ok, I'm really getting off topic here.

What did everyone else think for those who watched the movie?

I just watched it last night.

Yeah, the actor that played Joker was pretty good, he came across as an intense psychopath. Unfortunately the world has lost him.

I think everyone's first impressions of the movie from it's earliest previews to when it came out in theaters can be viewed here:

I thought the movie would have been better had it been shorter.

The main problem with the movie is that it introduced too many key villians. A movie should, really, have one main antagonist. Any more and it gets confusing.

Having Joker would have been fine enough, but by introducing Two Face(and really not handling it that well), was just too much. Not only did it make for a really long movie, but by not exactly handling Joker's demise too well, I was wondering if the Joker was going to reappear at the end of the film to explain it, or if that was just it.

I thought the same thing...
Don't get me wrong, the move was good....but they tried packing too much into the movie.................

It's like when you have too much of the same thing. When I saw it, I honestly was wondering when it was going to end....

I don't know what it was that made the thing so darn long....I mean I liked the other past batman movies, even when they introduced 2 characters like Batman and Robin and so forth, but this one seemed too freaking long.....

And now they want to out do this movie, so how long will batman 3 be >_<

My favorite Batman is still the Burton Batman from the 1989 movie. I think in both the 2005 and 2008 Nolan Batman movies his look has become more “military surplusâ€

I have to say I'm in total agreement with cutiebunny and moonrabitt -- it was too long, and honestly, Heath Ledger (sp?) as the joker didn't bowl me over the way it was hyped up to be. He was good, but I still like Jack Nicholson as the joker better. X| :x

I didn't like the introduction of Two-Face either ... it was just too many plotlines running at once, and there was a point in the movie that I thought should have been the end, but I knew it still had about another HOUR to go!

Overall, The Dark Knight was good, but I think Batman Begins was better.

Heath Ledger is the definitive Joker, hands down. His portrayal just made Jack Nicholson's seem that much more like Cesar Romero's. The Joker, at its origin, is a psychopath. He paralyzed Batgirl while laughing, blew up Jason Todd and his mother, hell, it was so good that the comic book has based his new look and origin on THAT performance!

Even the Batman TAS Joker was more hardcore than Jack's.

Which one would you least like to meet in a dark alley? The guy in the middle looks like my Uncle Don, who dresses as a clown for children's parties.

I didn't think it was too long. I have a good attention span to begin with. I'd rather watch three hours of a great movie than one hour of a bad movie. Tim Burton didn't know a damn thing about Batman when he started, and it was obvious. Batman using guns? Killing guys with bombs? A muscle suit? Ick. I like the fact that, with regards to the suit and the car, that Nolan has forgone sleek and sexy with real world and useful.

I'm with you Blueheaven, I think the latest Batman incarnation is pretty much spot on. I love the Tim Burton films, but to me they didn't really capture the harshness of the Gotham of the comics or Batman for that matter. Sure you could argue that you want to be entertained by a short and snappy action film, but to be honest I think the market is saturated with that sort of material. I think in turn that's why people have taken to the new Batman movies precisely because they don't do that. I think also the new films are less clear cut on the issue of 'good and evil', which to me is a good thing.

On a slightly different, but not unrelated note I am looking forward to Watchman coming out, should be really good as long as they make a good job of it!

I thought Heath Ledger made a great Joker. But like a few others, I felt the movie would have been better if they left out Two Face and kept it shorter.

Batman Begins is still my favorite in the series.

I'm in between with which I like better, because they are two completely different takes and universes. I love Noland's for the reason that many do, it's as close to life as a comic book has been. It's why the Marvel Movies don't do it for me at all, except for Punisher and Iron man to a lesser extent. The more fantastic it becomes, it's harder to relate to and becomes less human.

I like how the new Batman movies pull you in, and play out more along the lines of Goodfellas than Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin.

But to clearly disreguard what Burton did to Batman I feel is unfair. The feel of that movie is exceptionally "comic booky" and is plain fun to watch. One can argue how modern day and "real" Batman's emotions, origin and villians should be modelled after Miller, but the fact of the matter is it is not what Kane originally conceived and put in print. Batman like anything else has evolved throughout time, and I think Burton did the best rendition of the Dark Knight hollywood had ever seen until nearly 20 years later. It still has moments which transcend, and again, is fun.

Which I find better on any given day depends purely on mood.

Er...well I don't really like Batman. Not my favorite super hero. But I did enjoyed the Dark Knight. I'm with gundamx2 though. Batman's suit looked pretty bad and I didn't like the batmobile at all. *shrugs* They just didn't have the sleek looking cool factor I suppose. :)

The movie definitely could've used some editing. One super villain at a time please. :D But since I abhorred Batman Begins I really had low expectations. I think I just don't like batman (especially in these new movies)...So the joker kinda made the Dark Knight for me. He's was the only character I liked in the film. But when your routing for the villain I'm not sure if a super hero movie did its job of getting people excited for justice. :?

I liked Burton movies a bit more. But I think I have an unfair bias seeing as the second one had alot of penguins in it. And thats sometimes all I need to like a movie... X| So I'm not sure if my opinion counts on the matter as I didn't like Batman but the wobbly flightless birds. So if Batman3 has the Penguin I might just have to say Nolan has the superior Batman movies.

My favorite version of the Joker was from WB's Batman the animated series. Mark Hamil was awesome doing his voice. Plus to my knowledge this series created Harley Quinn. So bonus for jokerXHarley fans out there. Of course since it was an American cartoon he wasn't allowed to actually kill anyone. But he put up a good effort. :^^:

Mine too, something about him made me really like him. And Harley Quinn plus the joker is a great combination. I like his relationship with Batman more than in the movie. In the cartoon he looks so happy and carefree and BOOM, something goes off...

Though I disagree with the Movie joker when he said that he hates plans. Of course he has plans...He:
1).Made the bomb...
2). Gave the people the switches
3). Expected them to blow each other up...
If that wasn't a plan, I don't know what is....
He ALWAYS has plans...He is just SUPER RANDOM....

I on the other hand, like the Joker from the Tim Movies more...Because he seemed happier, and scarier (to me)...

But I guess it depends on which Batman you base the movies on, since there are so many versions......

Didn't the producer say that he will Never use Robin in his movies? :?

He said that to manipulate Harvey. The Joker will say anything to get what he wants. Of course he has plans.
