Fave anime character final round - poll closed

After an amazing round, we wound up with a tie. 33 votes went to both Motoko Kusanagi - Ghost in the Shell and Sai - Hikaru No Go. Congrats to both characters!

This round will be slightly different than the last round but mostly the same. Promoting your character, whether you nominated them or just support them, is highly encouraged. However, you may use anime images only. If someone uses images that are NOT from the anime, 1 vote will be deducted from the poll's count for each non-anime image. Sabotaging someone else's campaign by using non-anime images will cause your character to lose 2 poll votes. So bottom line, just use anime images and all will be well.

One more quick rule to add. Anyone found slandering either of these characters will have 5 votes taken away from their character. We need to keep things pleasant. Everyone has different tastes in characters. This is NOT personal. This is just for fun.

Honestly the rule opens up an array of problems, such as counter productive posts. Whos to say that If I wanted Sai to win I wouldn't just post this:



So you would remove 2 votes from Sai. But in actuality, I wanted Motoko to win.

See the problem? My suggestion: Remove the rule, and let it go on as normal, or this will become into a bogus contest.

I have 10 rounds worth of information stored not only on beta but on my HD telling me who has been voting for whom. I don't see the new rules being a problem because everyone should be following the rules anyway. Most everyone has and I appreciate that. It's just been a couple that I'm having to keep my eye on and I already know who they support.

If someone uses images that are NOT from the anime, 1 vote will be deducted from the poll's count for each non-anime image. Sabotaging someone else's campaign by using non-anime images will cause your character to lose 2 poll votes. So bottom line, just use anime images and all will be well.

Those rules kind of take the fun out of.

As long as you say anime images only that should be enough. I know some people have a problem with not doing that, but have a reminder once in while instead of keeping track of the votes retracting from whoever kind of sounds like a lot more work to me then just a reminder with "anime images only".

this actually opens up a whole slew of questions/needs to clarify for me....

-Anime images only, means just that right? Meaning images from screen-caps ONLY and no dvd/cd/laserdisk covers?
-No real photos edited with something from the anime?
-Does anime images ONLY mean that we cannot edit the images and any text/shiny/sparkles and any wording should be added to the post NOT the image?
-If someone (who doesn't read the first post) posts an image that would take a point away, then delete it within say 12-24hrs would that still count against the character?
-Ghost in the Shell has a PS1 game that has anime sequences in it, specific to the game, are those legit?
-Do/would Robo's videos count against Motoko?

...does EoP's post count against Motoko? =S

Not to mention the problem of hunting down where artwork is from. Promotional art related to anime is sometimes in a different style and even crosses over. For example, the Black Lagoon R2 DVD boxes and promotional posters use art which is similar to the manga style covers.

Any slander there was in the last thread was pretty tame. I thought about responding to the "dress like a slut" comment with: I take it no one here would be interested in seeing a shirtless Sai? I couldn't locate any fan art, although I didn't try very hard. Still, I think the fangirls are slacking.

I have to agree with Gonzai: if we have to resort to negative point rules like these, I'd prefer a tie. Both characters are deserving. Hey, the character I wasn't going to vote for is the one I actually own artwork of.

Also, TV anime only, or TV and movie? I think I remember someone from an earlier round wanted to vote for movie Motoko, but thought that we were only referring to TV Motoko.

Although, I would agree that there were too many sparkles in the last round. IMHO, they are a little cheap. *runs away from sparkle lovers*

Well, I have to say that a tie was an interesting outcome for the previous round. But I'm still in favor of the major, Motoko Kusanagi, and have cast my vote for her.

I will say that I have enjoyed all of the lobbying for the previous round. It was creative, funny, and quite entertaining.

Does that include the signatures where people do use images that are not anime? Just asking since some people do use in their sig a images of the character that is not anime and it's manga or a CD/DVD cover etc. Do they have to change out their images or turn signature off?

All of the rounds prior to this one have all been anime images only rounds as well. So it's just the same as all the other anime character rounds. Sparkly is fine. As seen last round, my friendly reminder of anime images only got completely ignored. So it's been bolded in red for easy access on the first page. Votes would only be deducted after the poll is closed so there is plenty of time for people to edit their posts should a problem arise. Problems have arisen behind the scenes as well as on the threads so the new rules came out for this round only to counteract them.

I don't see needing to use them. They are just safeguards. I will pm anyone directly that I see ignoring the rules as warning one. And warning two will be a post stating that votes will be deducted should a certain post not get edited. There will be no behind the scenes messing with the votes. I don't play that way. I am very clear about what happens and why. But as stated before and now again, I don't see this to be a problem. Just play nice and all will be well.

That sounds ok to me! If they just safeguards and you will give warnings like that I don't see a problem.
