I've been wondering for awhile how long it'll be before my post office in the mall will close. It's pretty slow over there these days. The mall is dying off and the bakery that is nearby closed shop a couple months ago.
Everything is slowing down. The eating place next to our store closed so we have no place to eat that is next to us. We used to have five eating places next to us.

It'll be Saturday if they do it.... It's the only non-business day.

That's a good idea. I have 2 PO's in my town, and the main one keeps the lobby open 24 hours for people to use the automated machine.ReiTheJelly wrote:I'm wondering if more post offices will cut back on their hours, but provide more automated postal machines in the lobby. This way, they can be "open" but not have to pay anyone to run the place.

I heard a representative this morning on the radio say it's not their first option.
Plus, it's a LAW that they have to provide delivery six days a week. It would take a lot of time to get that law changed.
And yes, I'd heard Tuesday or Wednesday would be the first days to be considered.
So, IF it happens, it won't be any time soon.

Well, as long as non-holiday Mondays are open and the 24 hour kisok continues to work, it really won't bother me.
And when my hours change this summer, I can go any day of the week.
But seriously, if this does happen, I doubt it'll happen quickly. These kinds of things take a lot of talk first before any real action.
