What sets your collection apart?

Post by JWR »

I know we all collect different things and have lots of neat stuff we have all chosen to share with each other via having on line galleries be it your own website or Rubberslug.

So what makes your collection special to you.

In my case besides the comic book art I would guess it would be that I have one of the largest collections of cels from the early episodes of Ranma 1/2 in which Akane Tendo has her hair long.

I currently have 32 displayed with 1 more won off YJ that had a bad dealer scan so I'll have to wait till it arrives to add it.

Hmm...let me see. I can think of a few things that might be considered different.

1. Now that the Elf Cel Gallery has been removed, there aren't very many websites that contain more than a few Kakyuusei cels in them anymore. :(

2. My collection is based more on anime that came from ren'ai games than most.

3. I think I've collected from more of a hodgepodge of sketch shows compared to most collections (68 titles) even though nearly all of those pieces are not posted in my galleries. X|

What sets my collection apart....

Most likely due to having the biggest Juuni Kokki gallery on the public net.

*pumps fist*

I guess to sound less cocky, it would be my dedication to Yoko specifically from Juuni Kokki.

Without trying to sound egotistical, what sets my collection apart....

I think I can safely say that I have the largest public collection of El-Hazard cels (over 700) and Shayla Cels (around 140+).

As well, I own 2 production artwork pieces from the show (the Shayla paintings).

I don't think my collection really stands out otherwise. My collection is pretty much know for what I stated above and the nude Yoruichi dougas.

I think what makes my collection special to myself is that I was able to get many cels from important points in a series I love and enjoy.

What another great topic!! 8) 8)
I tend to collect from more "warrior" based anime, I don't have tons & tons of series I collect from, but those I do I am quite passionate about, with Uchiha Sasuke being the main focus of my collection. Sometimes I think the hunt for the perfect piece is the best part :? And meeting so many great people along the way as well :) with all this said my Sasuke pieces make me the happiest, and my RK OVA, and my Okita, and Ed........... X|

I could probably brag and say I have the biggest and nicest collection of Fiber-Optic Turkey Mayhem (or whatever) art in the world. I do have some strong holdings in rarely-collected series, and some high-end pieces in popular ones.

But I've tried to make my gallery stand out mostly by making it a resource for information on the shows I collect and on the complex and interesting animation process that brings them into being. As economics and life changes bring the lurk-buy-update-repeat phase of my collecting to an end, I'm in a way looking forward to getting to know what's in my cel books and archival boxes better.

The only thing that makes it different, is that it's currently loved by me!!

I am not sure I can say that I have the best collection but I think I focus mostly on RK seisouhen cels. http://kittens.rubberslug.com/gallery/m ... esID=14747

Because recently I sold a couple cels I have a bit fewer cels that I had before. But I think I am still crazy about RK Seisouhen cels ^_^

I think my dream cel recently I bought is the best cel of the OVA cels http://kittens.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=265290 (which is the A1 end cel) so maybe this makes different????

Interesting topic... :)

Our gallery is probably best known for a couple of things:

1. One of the largest Gundam Wing artwork collections in a public gallery.
2. A rather large Fullmetal Alchemist collection.

My Disney collection definitely makes my gallery stand out more than anything else right now. I have had so many e-mails from various people regarding these cels, far more than all of my Anime cels or sketches combined.

I probably wouldn't have been able to answer this question if you asked it last February. Over this past year I have aquired a lot Unico in the Island of Magic cels and I think I now have the largest collection of Unico in the Island of Magic cels of any public gallery. Some of them are lower-end but quite a few are from major scenes and great shots of the characters. I am also the only public gallery that has two whole sequences of genga from the show, one of them being a deleted/un-used scene.

Other than my Unico cels I would have to say that my gallery is special because of all the wishlist cels I've been able to get a hold of. I'm very lucky when it comes to finding them and finding them at a time when I can afford them - a lot of times I find the exact frame I have screen-capped on my wishlist. Also, I have the most cels from The Chipmunk Adventure that I've ever seen in a public gallery. And I think my Iwao Takamoto drawing of Scooby and Shaggy, and my Sonic/Sally OP cels set my gallery apart too.

Well mine doesn't stand out particually at the mo there always seems to be bigger fish in the sea. I suppose though my NS and Burn Up are what stand out the most as they have most of the rarist pieces in my collection.
