Name the Anime
Sorry, no, JWR and Miz Ducky.
Those are both animes that feature rings, but I think they’re based on manga, rather than novels.
Though this series was first serialized in a magazine.
And I bet there probably are some Naruto novels now…
And I was thinking of doing Kuroshitsuji…
But… I decided instead to go with this brutal, yet beautiful, two part OVA Sci-fi depiction of driven, dysfunctional relationships…in a dystopian future.
And that ring…
wasn’t worn on a hand.

Yes kathpatty, I know that last line was a giveaway… but I couldn’t resist.
Yes, miz ducky you are right, klet’s got it!
Katsuhito Akiyama and Naoyuki Onda, who brought the beautiful women of the lighthearted Sol Bianca to life, applied their talents to the other gender in Ai no Kusabi, Rieko Yoshihara’s darkly tragic parable of the sometimes almost insurmountable difficulties of connecting with others.
How illusionary is the concept of control. How one can damage or even destroy that which one truly wishes for.
And yet how,
no matter how high the price,
be it rank and position,
or one’s own self-respect,
the yearning for that illusive bond cannot be denied.
A seminal work that both epitomizes and transcends its genre.
You’re up, Klet.

"Like the wind crying endlessly through the universe, Time carries away the names and the deeds of conquerors and commoners alike. And all that we are, all that remains, is in the memories of those who cared we came this way for a brief moment." Harlan Ellison
