Full Metal Alchemist 2

Post by duotrouble »

So who has seen the first episode? What did you think?

I thought it was pretty awful. I laughed in some places but overall I was bored. I love the original series so much so I know I'm being harsh on this series. That's just how it goes.

The short jokes were as funny as ever because the last I saw the Elric brothers they were doing some pretty serious things. It was nice to have some comedy back. It was awesome to see
Hughes alive again. I missed him! :bawl And I did laugh hysterically at Roy being drenched not once but twice. Good thing Riza was carrying around his spare gloves. :rollin
I sure hope future episodes get better. I will continue to watch it but so far it's doubtful I'll want any goodies from it. I think I can hear my bank account applauding. :emb

Overall I think it was pretty fast paced. Since it was a filler I'm excited to see how they'll handle the canon material though =)

Do I need to watch the original series to 'get' this one?

I'm sort of interested in seeing this series - but I haven't seen the original yet.

I got about half way through the episode and lost interest, I remember the first episode of the last series really grabbing me even without a ton of action, so a little disappointed :l
I'm a little wishy washy about whether to follow this series or not, I was happy to hear that this one won't just be a remake of the previous one, but if I can't make it through the first episode :P

So bittersweet... :l :l
Loved the series- to see the same people- when they were taken care of in the first FMA- it is hard to watch....I wanted to kick Bradley;s butt.... but the jokes are still good and the action...
I will watch it...caught a glimpse of Scar in the opening :D :D

Is this new series a spin off of the original or a continuation? I've been anticipating this new series and really hoped it started off where the movies plot ended.

It seems to be catching more action in the middle of the original...
all the characters (?) are back...Bradley, Mustang, Hughes, Gluttony, Lust...so far

Since it's going to follow the manga....It's not a spinoff...but a remake of the other series, but will follow the manga (the other series followed the manga, but at one point made it's own end...the Manga is ongoing)

The op of the new series :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGLBn9uoUM4

I have not seen it, but since my brother is a die-hard fan, I will watch it...
Since I have not seen the series in a few years, I don't mind watching it again....

Those of you who feel iffy about watching the series, should take a risk and watch it....or just watch the thing at about the time where the other series sidetracked

LAME LAME LAME!!! The artwork is different to me. Edward just doesn't look as cute in this new series. I'm also upset that they are going back to the middle of the original rather than carry on where the movie left off. To see these people back that have all died, and we know they're going to die, just bites.

I would suggest watching the original since this remake just jumps in assuming you know a lot already. And so far, the remake isn't very good.

Yes, I agree that the show...makes no sense as we all know what is going to happen...who is going to die, who is bad...who turns good, etc.
I just like seeing them in action .... :^^: :^^:

well, sorry to buck the trend here but...I thought it was pretty decent, okay, so I was hoping it would start up after the movie but....it was still action packed and plenty of good dwarf humor :D , but then I'm a hopeless FMA fanatic so maybe I'm partial...Ed was cool 8) although Roy wasn't as handsome.....still, I'm certainly looking forward to watching more

I am going to go with the majority here. The "tiny" joke was already old from the first series and 4-5 times in the space of a few minutes plus the difference in artwork started my dissapointment. Plus Icy Isaac reminded me too much of the character from "Heroes".

I really hoped they would have started where the first series or movie left off, not remake the old one. Since moonrabitt states that it is supposed to follow the manga, I will watch a few more episodes, but it's hard not to compare it the first series which I loved.

I'll be in the minority, when I saw that the episode was freaking awesome.... :D

I mean after watching the end of the series and the movie....I felt that the thing did not look finished....At least they are now following the manga, and at least the thing is being continued....

The only thing that looked weird was: the art (the color seemed off), and roy (not as cute.....)

I for one found the following hilarious:
*The chibi Jokes
*Roy getting soaked and the girl having a bunch of his gloves....
*Armstrong doing his poses
It looked fresh to me, mostly because I have not seen the thing in a long time........
