Greeting fellow cel-hounds!
This is my very first post here at Anime Beta. I collected for a few years back in the late 90's and then just started up again about a month ago. I don't have a Rubberslug gallery or anything. My collection is modest, with about 7 cels (from Ronin Warriors, Darkstalkers, Blackjack, Iria, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and the Guyver) I would consider myself an inexperienced collector, but not necessarily a "noob".
I was wondering if there is such a thing as a website where you are permitted to download and print backgrounds for your cels. I ask this because I notice on a lot of auctions the background is a copy. So it got me thinking why not just print existing backgrounds?
Please tell me if this is a faux pas, and forgive me if it is.
I noticed some rubber sluggers have background galleries, but the high res scans are protected in the Private Area. Are sluggers able to give out passwords to people who ask for them through the feedback option? Should I simply inquire and explain my intentions to various gallery owners and wait to see what they say? Or does such a resource exist for this purpose, with printable scans of backgrounds?
Because I think it SHOULD exist.
Any help would be most appreciated!
Thanks a lot!
Downloadable Backgrounds?
This is a great resource of backgrounds:

Additionally, if you want to use a background someone has in their gallery, definitely the right way to go is asking their permission and/or password.

I'd also recommend purchasing backgrounds on Yahoo Japan. There's a lot of resonably priced backgrounds for sale there, and it's a great way to find suitable backgrounds for your cels.
I have one of the larger background collections on RS, and that's where I bought all of mine. However, my scanner shows many of the gradients with lines, so, if you need any and you're willing to pay the kinko copy & shipping fee, I can make a copy.

It would depend on the background. The moon backgrounds, though, I am not interested in selling anytime soon.Vortex wrote:Out of curiosity, would you ever be interested in selling any of those backgrounds?
My experience has been that, while E-bay does have some backgrounds, you'll have a better selection on Yahoo Japan. This is especially true for any background involving a moon. I've seen moon backgrounds on E-bay go for $50, whereas, depending on the background, you can find one for about 1/5th the price on YJ.
I recently bought a BG on ebay actually. But when you have a specific one in mind (like the moon actually) you can't always find what you want...
I have not used Yahoo Japan... it all seems way to complicated. I think I don't need cels THAT bad.
Ok so the moon ones are off limits... would you be interested in selling the Sunflower one? My wife has a sunflower thing, and I would honestly just love to frame that for her alone. You know, if you'd be willing to part with it ever...
