Naruto vs. Bleach

Post by Gonzai »

I am always miffed at what is popular in the USA from
year to year. Two years ago, there were
a ton of people doing Naruto cosplay, and very little
Bleach. Last year it was about 50/50, and this year
there were a ton cosplaying Bleach and little to no
Naruto.

I don't follow the US versions of the anime. Has Shippuuden
started in the US, or are they still doing Naruto fillers??
If it is at Shippuuden, I am surprised at the lact of interest.

Bleach lost a lot of popularity in Japan last year - so much
so, that its time slot was moved from a more popular night
due to ratings decline, however, apparantly its booming in
the US.

Any other trends that you noticed at cons?? Am I just
imagining this, or has the interest in Naruto really declined
that much, while Bleach has become a fan favorite again?? :shrug

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

At anime expo, I saw about 50/50 cosplayers.
I don't know what it is, I mean, last October I stopped watching both (because I started working at night)
But my brother still likes them both....It's probably maybe the filler season or something?

I think it's the old saying " out of sight out of mind" Since Naruto has been off Adult Swim for a while and Bleach is still being shown.

Also cost wise Bleach cos-play also looks to be easier on the wallet.

Naruto finished its first run earlier this year in US. It was on Cartoon Network never in the Adult Swim time block. When Cartoon ended its Saturday night action blocks, Naruto left the air and hasn't been back. Shippuuden has never aired in the US. Those fans of only the US version of Naruto have completed this anime.

Bleach is still airing in Adult Swim but its hours during AS alter seemingly week to week. Bleach in the US is 100 episodes behind Bleach in Japan. So according to fans, the current arc is really exciting. Currently, the fans are receiving two back to back episodes every Saturday night.
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

You get miffed? Really? Why?

So, yeah. Totally not complaining here about the uptick in Bleach cosplaying, nu-uh! :bny
