RIP Walter Cronkite

Post by blueheaven »

Certainly one of the most influential voices of the 20th century along with Murrow and Vidal. He was someone who told the public what they needed to hear, rather than what they wanted to hear. THAT, is journalism. If you want a good read, check out A Reporter's Life.

I was just watching one of the memorial pieces and I remembered all of the moments from when they happened. 8O

Seems like hearing it from him made the event real.

I do not think the world will ever see his equal again and his mark will remain with all of us for the rest of our lives.

He certainly oversaw an era that slowly witnessed the end of trust. Trust in the news media, and trust in our representatives in Washington. Now, instead of journalism, we have talking heads and political pundits.
