I liked it, although I read the book a couple years ago, so I cannot remember how closely it followed. I also thought the feeling of the movie was a little "off." I think it had something to do with the pacing and the humor. The humor felt different from the last Harry Potter films, but it was still very funny at parts. I also think they rushed the ending. It didn't build up enough and then all of a sudden, it was over. It almost felt like they were adding all the humor to apologize for what happens at the end. I feel like this movie should have been darker than the last one. Maybe the filmmakers were lightening it up in preparation for the next two movies, so they look darker in comparison?

I loved it of course, but was very surprised at how many young children were in the theater.
By the very last scene when:
the kids in the other rows were BAWLING! How stupid! These films get darker each time and I'm well aware that these children have probably read the books at home with their parents, but taking a child to see that on the big screen when they're only 5 is just plain ignorant.

I'd have to agree that it was not as dark as the novel. Although, one particular scene...
...was very well done. I also liked the performance by Tom Felton as Draco. It was the first time in the series when he wasn't relegated to smirking in deisgust for the entire film, or being comic relief.

I avoided reading this whole thread until I saw the film. I was afraid to find out what others thought before I saw it.
I really enjoyed it, I loved the fact that there were sections of the film without a musical background. And the cinematography was A+ But where the book version was a tension packed wind up, I feel this movie was akin to the Empire Strikes Back, obviously the movie before the climax. WONDERFUL eye candy and action, but it was all foreplay. Fell just a bit short curling the old toes
I did, however, like the derivations from the book, they made sense for the story development, and were necessary for fitting the whole story into the time alloted. The only thing I wish they would have put in the film was:
And just in case your like me, the credits are just as long as previous HPs and there is no little treat at the end, you don't need to wait till the light come up

As they were putting out the fire at his house, Harry tells Hagrid about Snape killing Dumbledore, and Hagrid refuses to believe. I felt it was a defining moment of the book. I think it would have made the ending, more powerful and wrapped up the movie with the same feeling as the book. |

Finally got a chance to see the movie. My avatar explains the delay. ^_^
I enjoyed the movie and was prepared for the unavoidable cinematic revisions but I wish they kept:
I cannot wait for the last two movies!

THE KISS they way they had it in the book. But since most of the quidditch scenes were deleted that would not have been possible. Actually, the way they portrayed the Har/Gin relationship was really underplayed. But, with most of the "action" happening in Harry's head, there was no way to fit that all in the movie |
I was finally able to see the Movie, since due to a move across the country and being really busy it wasn't possible to watch it earlier.
But regardless, I was very pleased with the Movie! I know that some things that the Novel has aren't in the Movie, but they did a really great job with the Movie anyway!

i enjoyed it as well. i felt it was a bit rushed because there was a few things i had questions about mainly b/c i havent read the books yet.
yea, i'm doing it a bit differently but i have always done things like this. a good example would be going after the super expensive cels first when i first collected. go figure. lol
