I amused my anime-hating wife (we're nearly through with the first set of Romeo x Juliet together) by commenting, "Oh! Ghost in the Shell! That's a major series!"
"Huh what?"
"It's a heavyweight, maybe a classic. Wow, I wanna see what Conan does with this!"
Sadly, they pixelated all the boobs. Otherwise, it was great fun.
Then my wife and I had a long discussion about the place animated boobs have in Japanese popular culture. (Recalling how I profoundly embarrassed a class of undergraduates by showing them most of the opening episode of Ranma 1/2.)
I'm only sorry they didn't interview Miyazaki, who was in town then. But I can't imagine that he would survive being on Conan O'Brian.
