I agree, since this awards has been in the planning stages for a lot longer than usual. People may have forgotten, so a title change may get them to actually start reading.
I hate to jump the gun but I'd prefer to wait and evaluate the situation as the 8pm hour approaches. As I recall last year, the last day was very active in terms of entries. If it's as many categories as now stands, it might be time to consider extending the art submission deadline or something else. If it's down to two categories, then modifying the amount of awards given per category might be best.
I hope that more people enter...and hopefully all the procrastinators will send their stuff in XD

p.s- not sure if this was not addressed....but if we are allowed to enter a 6th entry...can I also enter something in the "animated" (optional) section?

I've closed submissions for the time being as we're discussing what to do. Frankly, I'm inclined to the let the 4 and 3 entry categories stand as is(just with less awards give out) and allow those that enterred in the 2 and 1 categories to resubmit artwork to another category.
It sounds like we're in agreement to allow the four and three entry categories stand as is.
The only difference is that, in the categories with four entries, only 2 medals will be given. In the categories with three entries, only 1 award will be given.
For the Storyboard and Fan-art categories, we will allow these entrants to resubmit another piece of artwork to any category.
I think it might be easier to send the submissions to the gmail account that we sent up for the awards - summerbetaawards09[at]gmail.com
From there, we can reload the images for you.
And, should any of you happen to upload an image in one of the 3 or 4 image categories, we might be able to award more stuff to all participants in those categories.
I've received two of the three entries from those affected by the category eliminations so far. All of these entries have been added to the site and the affected participants should have received a confirmation e-mail.
So, two down, one to go....
Also, due to the reshuffle...Embarrassed is now a four entry category.
There's still some work to be done that we're trying to take care of before we open it up to viewing. Although I had wanted to get voting up by today, I think we'll be able to extend voting to September 3rd.
Now. As of 10:20p PST, I've opened the site to viewing and voting.
I think we're at a point where it's going to be as good as it's going to get.
All participants are required to vote for all standard categories. If a participant submitted artwork into an optional category, they must vote in that category as well.
And, of course, those that didn't submit artwork are invited to vote. The more, the merrier!
I've updated the front page accordingly. All participants have until September 3, 2009 at 8pm PST to submit their votes.
