Animes worth watching many times?

Post by JWR »

Over the years I have bought a lot of dvd's of great shows that from time to time I pop back in the dvd and rewatch it.

I don't count those I only put it to watch a single episode to id a cel or sketch but just those we have enjoyed watching all the way thru for on at least 3 different occations. I have actually found small things I have miised the first times I watched it.

3 Times or more

Ai Yori Aoshi
Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi
3 x 3 Eyes
Kiddy Grade
Azumanga Daio
Ah My Goddess movie
Saikano
Galaxy Angel
Stellvia
Serial Experiment Lain
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Martian Sucessor Nadesico
.Hack//Sign
Ghost in the Shell movie
Dual
El Hazard OVA
Shakugan no Shana
To Heart
Shuffle
Kanon 2006
Lucky Star

So any you bring out every so often to enjoy again?

Just three?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

In no particular order:

1. Macross: Do You Remember Love?
2. Macross Flashback 2012
3. ONE ~True Stories 2nd OVA (one of my favorite osananajimis and reunited stories)
4. Suika (Wet Summer Days) the 2nd episode story (very sad)
5. Combustible Campus Guardress (still funny after all these years)
6. Five Star Stories

To a lesser extent:

7. AIR TV series (more emotional on rewatches)
8. Kanon (2006) (poignant)
9. Refrain Blue (still nice)
10. Black Lagoon (very fun in an evil way)
11. Tenchi Muyo in Love (I'm a sucker for time travel and self-sacrifice stories)
12. Gunbuster (the time slips were great as well as the ending)
13. Memories: Magnetic Rose (haunting)
14. Please Save My Earth (sad, but touching)
15. Iriya no Sora (beautiful sky dance :l )
16. Irresponsible Captain Tyler (still funny)
17. Maburaho (it's grown on me over the years)
18. Midori no Hibi (ditto)

I've bought many anime DVDs too. Some I sadly discovered don't have that rewatchability for me. (I've sold those or am selling them.) Here are the ones I watch over and over again in no particular order.

Ghost Hunt
Weiss Kreuz
Gravitation
Card Captor Sakura
Fushigi Yuugi
Escaflowne
Please Save My Earth
Gundam Seed
Gundam Seed Destiny
X/1999
Tokyo Babylon
Angel Sanctuary

All of them have been watched from start to finish at least 5 times, many of them more. :^^:
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

It's a tricky question....
It's obvious that the animes you like a lot are the ones you will be rewatching. From all the ones i like i'll try to limit my list to those i tend to rewatch more. Here's my list:

- Aria the Animation (All 3 series)... When i remember that at first i thought it was a so so series.... How mistaken i was.
- Berserk.... I love the action... Too bad its one of those unfinished series...
- Blood+ ..... Love it ^^
- Claymore ..... More sword action ^^
- Fate Stay Night ..... Saber-chan..... ^o^
- Figure 17 ..... A masterpiece
- Fushigi Yuugi ..... Although i don't watch it now as often as i used to.
- Gunslingerl Girl (Only the first series)..... Love thte concept of the series.
- Haibane Renmei ..... Great story. Could have easily be made into a 26 episode series instead of the actual 13.
- Hunter x Hunter ..... Another great series.
- Juuni Kokki ...... Another masterpice. This one specially requieres you to watch 2 or 3 times if you want to understand everything.
- Kanon 2006 ..... Uguuu ^o^
- Macross ..... Don't watch it now as often as i used to, but i remember watching it lots of times.
- Maison Ikokku ..... The best romance
- Marmalade Boy ..... Another romance. Used to watch it lots of times.... Not that much recently
- Neon Genesis Evengelion ..... It's overrated, but i used to watch it lots of times. It really requires to watch a few times to understand all those hidden details.
- Noein ..... I love the futuristic theme, and the BGM is really great.
- Noir ..... Another overrated one, but i used to watch it lots of times. Not anymore.
- Queen Milennia ..... An oldie, but i loved this series. Too bad i only had it on VHS and those are unwatchable now.
- Saiunkoku Monogatari ..... This is my Fushigi Yuugi substitute nowadays, specially the first series.
- Scrapped Princess.... Love it.
- Seikai series (Crest of the Stars and sequels).... Love it, love it, love it.
- Seirei no Moribito ..... Great story and well done finale.
- Shakugan no Shana ..... A typical easy to rewatch series, I'm sure i won't keep watching it that much in the future..... uruchai uruchai uruchai :P
- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.... Another of my favorites, although i got tired of the endless eight arc in the second series.
- Uchuu no Stellvia.... Space aventures, my favorites ^^
- Unhinabited Planet Survive .... Living in a deserted island. Another of my favorites. ^^

That will do for now :P
