In that case I understand, being offered only half of the suggested price is annoying.

I would suggest that if you are considering a sale period, take the time to create a sale page. I was far too lazy this time around for the page, but find that I will definitely take the time in the future, no matter how lazy I am feeling. Your price is posted. Period.

And as far as the awards go, I have not participated in that since the first year. Don't have time for the hassle :)

Hey dude, like in any business transaction I asked twice the saler its sell price, not your crappy opinion on the duration of existence as an anime cel collector.
Wanna reopen your amazing dissertation about "Saint Seiya" prices reality ?
No, me neither, so shut up and keep those kind of comments in your mouth.

?!!?
What's the problem? I was on your side!
You cannot deny you are indeed new to cel collecting. You have been in this hobby for only about one year, right? There is nothing to be ashamed of.
Please remove the last sentence of your previous post and let's forget about this.

Its a cycle Amy. We run into this every couple of years,
where new users join, and there seems to issues (for
lack of a better word) between them and some of our
longer term users. X|

It goes through a shot term cycle, and usually what happens,
(from my experience), is the newer users either dissapear,
or they work things out with the long term users. We have
had, in the past (and aparantly current), users who will just
sign up under a new user name to get away from all of the
old issues.

Unfortunately, I have also seen them drive longer term users
away before they finally disappear. Hopefully that won't end
up being the case this time around. :x

For the most part, this is a very friendly board. Things have
actually calmed down quite a bit from when Beta was in its
infancy. There was a lot of arguing going on back then. I
think the Speakeasy helped out with that alot. Maybe we
need to start moving more threads there, for people who want
to flame, so that the other users don't have to see it.

I will refrain from any comment about cel prices or how long/short anyone has been around, but I think one thing needs to be pointed out that gets missed a lot.... When making an offer on someone's gallery, it really is NOT a "business transaction" per se.

Some examples of things that are "business transations" are: Buying from a professional cel dealer's site, bidding on/winning an item from an auction site, or buying a cel at a con from a dealer's table. However, when dealing with a private collector accepting offers, it's a situation that is much more a *SOCIAL* situation than a business one, despite that the situation has business components.

If I may.... I think where you made your original mistake, Iceman, was in treating the situation too much like buying from a professional cel dealer. For example, professional cel dealers have some interest in giving discounts to get rid of stagnant stock more quickly because that lets them bring in new items to sell, but a private collector is not dealing with store stock, they are dealing with a collection that they would rather KEEP. So, with very FEW exceptions, asking a private collector for a bulk discount is generally considered inappropriate. A social faux pas.

Secondarily, you might wish to temper some of your posts to the forums. I'm not telling you not to speak your mind, however, from what I've read of your posts, I percieve someone who is more ready to attack other posters than anything else. There's a strong chance this might have a negative effect on your interactions with private collectors that frequent these forums.

Many Sharp Smiles,

Well said Drac. Another thing that might help is to ask the sellers price questions through PM. Not openly on a forum.

Got it, just transferred everyday business work here ;)

Regarding GK note relative to prices privacy, in the current case there was not mention of PM or contact way per E-mail, so... I posted here :D

I agree with Drac, and to add Dealers usually do not have an attachment to there cels. They buy for the intent of making a profit. Where as private collector is in it for the art, anime, collecting, etc. This is what I call the attachment cost. What it take to for a collector to pry there hands away from their treasures, and it is different from collector to collector. We just need to respect people decision on these matter. I know there are cels in my collection that I would take a pretty penny to take them away. Much more than what I paid. Also there are cels other have I would never spend the money on but others gladly well. This is just how it is.

For sure. Hopefully, sometimes from year to year galleries are rearranged and items that were NFS, become open to offers. Sometimes collectors leave the collections and items that were NFS, become open to offers...

The main source Mandarake earned 6 millions yens on the last BWA, so maybe we can call this small social deals in a giant business universe ;)

So this just keeps getting better and better.

It turns out that two of the people that were "offering" - and I use that term loosely - on the same X/1999 cel are the same person. Yes - one person using two personas. The one email offered offensively low. Then the next offered just a fraction better. I don't know if you honestly thought that I'd be so desperate after the first crappy offer that I would jump at your second, but I am not only offended....now I'm pissed.

Guess what?!?! That X cel that you oh so desperately wanted to add to your collection will never be sold to you. It will never be traded to you. As I matter of fact, I may just write it into my will that the cel gets buried with me when I die.

Oh...honey...you signed your last email wrong - you used the wrong persona.

By the way, if you would like to know who this person is, please feel free to pm me. I will not post your name(s) in this thread. Yet.
