Lots Of New Goodies!

Post by Matt »

Ok, I am not one to post updates to my gallery however, I have been scanning artwork for the last four days and I was able to get my hands on some Hanken Peanuts Coloring book artwork along with many more goodies so I decided what the heck I will post an update thread. I also updated all my images..(that's why everything says new X_X) but I did add new artwork too:

Burn Up Excess a new Maya ep4 cel
Burn Up Warrior a new Rio ep4 cel
5 new Burn Up Oversized cels (new section)
Dirty Pair Flash sketches (new section)
Macross / Robotech (first top three cels)
Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Kenshin Douga (in the misc / others section)
Johnny Bravo (Special thanks to Beatrush)
Peanuts Hanken
Rick Parker Art (Beavis & Butthead, Diary Of A Stinky Dead Kid and Zombie sketch)
Randy Queen Darkchylde prelim cover (in the misc comic section)

Hope I don't sound vain but I really wanted to share the new art. I hope you are able to stop by to check out my update.
Enjoy!

I think people are afraid now that they'll be thought of as vain for posting updates due to that being the opinion of a couple in the "pet peeves" thread. Don't worry about it- this forum has a section called "Your Gallery/Website" for a reason ^_~x. Nice update. I like your layout.

You walked into Rubberslug like you were walking onto a yacht
Your cels strategically tucked beneath one arm
Your Sally's Coloring book hanken, it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself upload
And all the Betarians dreamed that they had your collection
They had your collection and ...

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you
Apologies to Carly Simons

Actually it's about this wonderful Johnny Bravo sketch.

I love it, and I know my daughter (a Bravo devotee) would also. The Peanuts hankens, apricot and otherwise, are also very interesting artifacts. (Is there an English book publisher's name for these? "Hanken" is clear to me, but I wonder if "mock-up" or "dummy layout" is the term that would be used in this country.)

My pet peeve about this thread is that you didn't mention the three luscious You're Under Arrest repro cels:

Each one is a sensuous knockout. I don't collect repros, but I'd love to walk home with one of these sweeties. (Uh-oh: WOS -- better submit before I'm in trouble.)

Congrats, Cel Addict, on your additions and on getting that spate of scanning and uploading done successfully!

I think "Mock-Up" or "Roughs" are the correct terms over here.

Thanks for everyone's visits and posts. I appreciate you all taking the time to respond :) and sensei I never thought that was me ...well maybe for a second :P

Hmm, should I change the title of Peanuts Hanken to Peanuts Rough / Mock Up? I do have the two Peanuts cels which were used for a Nottsberry Billboard ad..wouldn't those still be hankens? hmmm....

Thanks again, animeobsessed, Maiko, sensei, Beat and Killua for your kind comments!

The two cels, IMO, are Hankens.

:topic

Im supremely curious, as I looked at your Johnny Bravos, one seems
to have a lil word bubble w/ some spanish written in it.
I can only make out a few words since the scan is small.
I was wondering if it was a joke among animators or maybe what Johnny really says in the scene but written in spanish.

http://celaddicts.rubberslug.com/galler ... mID=295556

"Chico! Realmente saben como (cant see next 3 words) tipo."
"Dude! Really knows how (fill in the blanks) a guy"

Is it "lastimar a un" thats written in there?

In any case, very nice additions! /no1
Your Johnny's got my full attention since it was a show
both me and my mom enjoyed watching together when I was in H.S

Things like that are sometimes referred to as publicity cels.

All this talk about Johnny Bravo sure brings back memories. When I went for my BA in animation, Van Partible ( the show's creator ) was one of my teachers. You would probably be horrified to know just how many original production cels from the show were stapled to the walls of our studio room!

Shampoo - I was always curious about that sketch too. The full bubble reads "Chico! Realmente saben como lasimar a uto tipo." Instead of the sequence number staring with JB it says "T2" and on the top right hand corner there is 2/3 written. ??

Maiko - Did you happen to snatch any of those Johnny Bravo cels that were hanging everywhere :D
