I had a very quiet day, then my wife took me to the local Yacht Club for an early-bird dinner (good crab, as usual), and I came home for cake and presents. No cels, but my daughter gave me the
Tsubasa Art Book (lovely!), my brother gave me an anthology of American graphic art work, and even a good family friend passed on a Japanese manga volume she'd somehow found. (It turned out to be a volume of Osamu Akimoto's
Kochikame, the longest-running manga title in history.)
My wife gave me a steering wheel cover for my aging car, a new slow cooker, and a sweater; plus she ordered a new rocker for the TV room that matches hers.
I'm slowly getting used to being a sensible, mature 60something-sensei rather than the debauched, unstable 50something I used to be. Fortunately, I have 3651 days to practice.
Thanks again to everyone who posted kind thoughts and messages.
