I'd suggest getting her to watch an anime movie with you at home first (on a later date). Movies like Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and a Miyazaki films have a universal appeal, and even people who don't particularly like animated stuff can appreciate them. Then, maybe at a later date, if you guys talk about the movie or something, you can bring up your collecting habits.

whatever you do...... do "not" show her your Kite and Mezzo Forte collections or she's going to get the wrong impression on you. :D

Dude I'd heartily reccommend just getting to know them a bit first as others have suggested and you can then gauge what their reaction to your art collecting will be. On the whole I can usually guess which of my friends will be receptive to me waffling on about my hobby and which will not and the same would apply to prospective partners. I'm sure you'll find out after not too long whether she'd be ok with your hobbies. In short just trust your instincts, if their a precious little it girl who squeals when someone lets rip within a 10 mile radius then I'd say it's a non starter. If however they're a slightly more balanced open minded person, then they should be fairly accepting or at least tolerant.
That doesn't mean that she needs to embrace anime and run off to every convention dressed as Rangiku-san(it's a theme tonight...),
Cutiebunny come on both you and I know that any women largely endowed or not would have to do one heck of alot of stuffing to pull off a Rangiku San... :D It's just an unfair request on any mere mortal!

I'm with everyone else -- unless you know from other sources that she is interested in anime, I would downplay it for the first date. If she asks about hobbies, tell her about your OTHER hobbies, first. :) Not that she should never know about animation art, but I would let her get to know your personality before she starts making blanket judgments based on your love of "cartoons" (which many non-anime fans are apt to do)

Good luck and have fun! :)

I think you need to find out whether she sees a picture of a hat or an elephant eaten by a boa constrictor before you know what kinds of things to discuss. In other words, find out what kinds of things she's interested and tailor the discussion based on that. Don't scare her away on the first date by making her think you're a crazy person. ;) If she only mentions mundane things, then talk about mundane things. If she mentions that she's into anime, fantasy, sci-fi, comics, or anything like that, let go and tell her about the stuff you like.

You have the perfect entry point into the subject now because everyone has seen or heard of Avatar. It is the first mainstream movie to be able to tell an anime story.

Haddock, anyone can pull off Rangiku's endowed look. But the question is, would they they look as good as she does?

In cases such as these, I think not.

Ha ha ha :D

Hey I got an idea regarding the beloved one, does she likes any particular meal or flower ?

Cook her some salmon slice toasts with cucumber/pepper and a decorative orchid.

Easy, fast and you'll discuss and lunch while watching anime. Food is always communicative, this recipe is my killer shot. If she focus on food and did not watch TV, that means you've to change the DVD. Anyway she'll certainly think "he loves anime, but anyway he's creative and a serious business".

Like a lot of people are saying:

Apply the same behaviour you'd apply towards anybody in your life when you don't know whether or not they'd be down with anime. Just get to know her first. Once you get to know her a little, you'll know whether or not your full-on love of anime as a big part of your life is going to be cool with her or not. It's not that you're trying to keep everything hidden, but since someone can't be expected to understand right away if they're not interested in it, you don't want to overwhelm them. If you've got something more universal to talk about first, I think you should, as that's less of a one way conversation than if you were just geeking out about your love of anime for half an hour by yourself. Besides which, however big a part of your life anime is, there should be a billion other things to talk about on a first date that are more important. To be honest if you feel so unsure about whether or not it's a good idea that you have to ask the Internet for advice, that kind of tells me you don't know each other well enough yet and you ought to just focus on getting to know the real her first. Have fun!

dude_moose mentioned Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers... OMG, that's exactly the same films I'd pick to show to a non-anime fan XD! They really are great films; probably also better picks than Miyazaki films to begin with as they have a more 'mature' universal audience type of appeal versus the 'children's/family film' type of appeal. Whatever you do pick something classy, unless your fellow viewer indicates their interests run along different lines...

When? You got that right.

Try saying that with less context.

My eyes are burning. I don't want to know what was going through her mind when she decided that she looked ok in that outfit bra-less.

That one made me cry. It was good, but majorly depressing. :'(
