Rubberslug is online

Post by noisywalruforgothislogin »

Howdy internet peoples.

Rubberslug is back online. There were a few casualties due to the last backup being incomplete. (oops)

First, the bad news:

- All market images after 11/2009 are technically there, but the file names are missing in the db. Trying to figure out if there's an easy way to restore these, but if you want them restored pronto you'll have to reupload. I'll work on this after Thursday since I have do get something else done first before then.

- *Some* item names after 11/2009 in galleries were erased. Many are still there. The items themselves are fine. Workaround: Edit the item and rename it. They'll still work without names (I think).

- Thread titles after 11/2009 were guessed at by me, mostly by hand. Nothing horribly important was lost here.

The good news is everything else is peachy keen. Lots of stuff was manually restored over the last 48 hours. Nothing else was lost. All the images are still there, the galleries are running, the site is far more secure than it was after I did a top to bottom code review. I will continue to monitor the site for craziness. As many of you know, I've got a lot on my plate right now both professionally and personally but I'll make sure to do my best to keep it running. Thanks for your support!

Also... report all errors to jason{at}orchidflux.com. A lot was changed so it's quite possible something doesn't work. I tried to test it but I was motivated to get it back up as soon as possible after testing all the really critical stuff. Thanks!

Just rebooted the server. Let me know if it's working now. I removed the password check but it might have needed a reboot at stick.

Dunno if you need a record of the different
messages folks are getting but I'm at work right now
and this is the error message I get
Access to this server is forbidden from your client
Didnt know RS was down for days O.O just happened to log in
to beta and notice the threads.
Sorry this happened Jason. Family affairs takes priority over
a site any day so please take care and hope things smooth
over soon on your end-- both personal and w/ the slug.

:hello

Oops! I forgot that I restricted access to all IPs except mine. No wonder why it worked for me and not for anyone else. Lolsauce. My bad.

Is it fixed now?

I now can access my gallery, except that (as you predicted) the most recently added items have no titles. But I can access these through clicking on the images, and I see no problems with fixing this through "My Account - Edit Item."

Thanks for all your hard work, Jason. I hope the Image newbie soul Image will taste good for Easter Monday supper, too!

Works fine for me, too.

The two pieces of artwork I've added this year lost their titles, though. Can't remember what I called them before . . . X|

I guess there was a reason I wasn't updating that stack of artwork! I must be clairvoyant! I sensed this would happen.

I was thinking the same thing... Since my entire gallery is new, I've lost all the titles...

But, using Firefox at least, if I go through and edit the titles Firefox tries to pre-fill the box with text I have previously entered there, so I can see all the titles I typed in! 8) I should be able to put them all back with no problem...

Something to try, obviously you have to be on the same computer that you used to enter them in the first place...

Since my entire gallery is new, took me a little over 2 hrs to rename all the titles :l Oh wells, at least nothing else was affected.

Hmm...looks like all items added from October 2009-present were affected, except the hidden stuff. That's odd...I would have thought that it would have been across the board during the time frame and not just the recent stuff I've bought.

Those lobsters do excellent work, Jason :)
