I got the trojan horse warning again when I hit the forums. Might want to kill that off. :?

WARNING!!!

When I clicked on the RS forum link it set off my Norton and it blocked an attempt to hijack.

Yeah um.. the forums look screwed up again... just like the other day. :? Weird! Is anyone else seeing some gallery titles missing again? I only see the first two on the recently updated list still have titles, and the rest are gone again X|.

Another oddity: when I do a search for a character or series name, it returns a set of images, which I can click on and go to the galleries where the cels/sketches are uploaded.

But down below, where I would normally find links to galleries that have individual pages containing the name that I searched for, there is simply a list of the page names but no links back to the the galleries where they are housed.

I hope that made sense...

That's weird!! This is happening for me too. But I tried doing a series name search right after the site went back up, and it was working normally then. So this is a post fixing issue.

Must have missed something. I'm taking Rubberslug down again. At least I made good backups this time. This *should* be easy to get all the stuff back (especially those who just went through and renamed stuff), but I need to figure out exactly why this is happening so it may be down for a day or two since I really don't have time to work on this atm.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I've locked down the site for now, bu it'll be up tomorrow.

There was one file that I fixed that I forgot to upload that caused the whole thing to break again. Luckily, I have much better backups this time. The fixes are all done and the data is restored, but I want to test them in the morning (2:30 AM here, need some zzzzz...). It should be back up by noon tomorrow. I need a solid two hours or so to put everything back in order. *yawn* All is well, no worries.

This little episode is the biggest motivation for me to finish my bottom-up rewrite of the site. I'll very likely be clearing time to work on that after Thursday.

Truly awesome effort Jason.

Everyone here knows that you have quite the full workload on your hands - both family & professional - yet you still took time out to help the rubberslug users & it's broader community virtually straight away upon hearing our distress.
As well, you kept us all promptly informed of the latest developments & diagnosis' without the slightest hint of bitchiness or sarcism.

I for one, take my hat off to you & appreciate all of the professionalism you have demonstrated to us over these past few days.

Jason's initiative is one reason why I've put more effort into really getting to know animation art and its background. In the academic field where I worked for several decades, I repeatedly suggested creating something similar and always got the "that would take too much time" response. State of the art there is an e-mail listserve where people are always responding to each other and attaching the entire contents of the previous day's digest to the end of their one-line message. Remember that?

Thanks, Jason, for keeping us all oriented in the 21st century. Will there be an iPhone app that goes with the new RS avatar?

Back on the case. Eating Corn Pops and blasting hackers.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I wish it wasn't under such circumstances that I get a chance to talk to most of you, but I really do care about the site on a personal level because I have a long-standing irritation with the concept of it being far easier to break something than build something. Not just in tech but in everything. What's worse is that our society has too short an attention span to celebrate the process of creation. We watch the 1-minute fast-forwarded YouTube version of creation or laugh when Simon Cowell tears some kid down (and continues to pad his music-based fortune despite zero actual musical talent) and we move on.

To make a long story short, people who kick over a part of our sand castle just makes me want to build us a bigger, better one.

All of you young people out there, don't get cynical. If you think things like Rubberslug are cool (er, aside from the virus dropping nonsense), start today on building something you care about. Build a virtual gallery. Knit a scarf. Train a pet a new trick. Go jogging for a half hour. Start small. Don't sweat the mistakes. Don't let the haters get you down. Building > breaking.

Okay, morning mini-rant done. Almost fixed!
