You know you have a problem when..........

Post by Goldknight »

I have a serious addiction and it was confirmed today via snail mail.

I received a Starbucks Gold Card because of my all to frequent visits to the place using my usual gift card that I simply keep reloading. Anyone who knows me knows that I hate coffee and don't generally drink sodas, so instead I drink Arnold Palmers (black tea/lemonade). I drink them A LOT! Everyday I must buy 3 of these things from Starbucks using the gift card that I registered online when I first received it. After that I figured it would be a lot less brain damage to just reload it and use it.

Well in the mail comes several gift certificates for free drinks as well as this shiny golden card with my name inscribed on it as well as the date I originally started using my regular gift card. Apparently this card comes with a variety of perks including free WIFI and occasional free drinks. I can't believe I've gotten to this point.

Part of me is so embarrassed and another part of me stares at this shiny piece of plastic all proud at the new level I've reached. :emb

Since I don't go out drinking alcohol on weekends and since I don't smoke I consider this my vice, my addiction. I know....I need help. I could probably save a shit ton of money by making my own, but I just keep going back. :hurt:

My name is GK and I have a problem. :rollin

Haha, Arnold Palmers are the best!

I knew I had a problem yesterday when I walked out the door with a travel mug of homemade coffee, and my dad called and asked if I wanted to meet him at the coffee shop. Where I proceeded to buy a large latte and arrived at work with two coffees. lol.

I had a third cup when I came home. And have one right now. XD

...and in reality I drink about 5 times more tea than coffee.....

Wait until you get your Platinum card :D

My drink addition is those milk teas with the tapioca boba in them. Every Friday I have to make a special trip there just to get a large Rose Milk Tea. And Tapioca Express puts real rosebuds in there...and, if I buy 10, I get one free.

:rollin :rollin
Your thread tickles me!
:crackup
Yea, I can see why you are excited, its almost like...
being inducted into an elite club only for Arnold Palmer drinkers
via special card sent only to you and those that reach that
connoisseur level.
I get excited when my fav stores offer me deluxe
membership-only discounts and/or freebies.. really makes me feel like
I'm getting something back for spending my time and
money with them. Makes the credit card bills less painful to look at
LOL!!
:hitting:

I dont have drink vices to share, I'm like you too!
I hate coffee, soda, and to some degree umm.. coughcoughteacough
Well.. except for taro milktea! But I only crave it once in a
blue moon.
BUT! I do spend alot on mushrooms (bella, oyster, shitake, pompom, etc)
I eat them at least 3-4 times a week in my dinner.
I know they have 0 nutritional value but I love them. *_*

It’s not true that mushrooms have 0 nutritional value!!! They are actually crazy healthy for you, and shitake are some of the best.

They are full of antioxidants like selenium and have protein, which is hard to get from vegetable sources (I’m a vegetarian so that’s important to me....although it's an incomplete protein so you have to combine them with other veggies.) They are good for building up your immune system. Plus they have potassium too.

Haha, I’m totally a health food geek.

Holy Beavis Monkeys! Really??
No kidding! 8O
I assumed there was truth in my mother 's rants about how uselesss
my fungi addiction was. She's a healthfood/fitnesss enthusiast so
I believed her wholeheartedly that they didnt have any
dietary contributions. But now I see that the *real* reason was
probably to curb the grocery bill by discouraging my
taste buds from eating too much shrooms.
LOL!!!

They’re using Asian mushrooms extensively in cancer research, and pretty much all mushrooms help your immune system.

The only bad thing I’ve heard about any common mushroom is that one of them (maybe the white button ones I think?) is mildly toxic if you eat them raw (but are still super good for you cooked.)

I think how expensive many are really is the primary drawback, ha. I’d guess you’re guessing correctly on you mom’s motivations. XD

Also the other good thing about some mushrooms is that they get you bombed out of your mind. Just thought I'd stick that thought out there for posterity as it were. :messed

This seems like an appropriate thread to mention that Starbucks is giving out free coffee today (April 15) if you bring your own mug to fill.
