Yeah fakes are pritty common sadly, one of the first cels i ever bought on Yj turned out to be a fake (rinkya saved my but on it by catching it when it came in and rejecting it)
those drawings on YJ i've had people telling me they were fake for many months now, i know of one of the deputy servis rejecting that sellers items several months back
In general anything nice ghibli related on Yj is very suspect, nausica and san are the biggest targets, i've seen alot of fakes over the years and sadly i know of serveral collectors that have some in the collection and haven't relized it yet.....course give the odds anyone with enough cels probubly have atleast one....even myself
sometimes you've got to know the pedigree on anything highend, and if you don't know (ie just turned up on YJ from unknow seller) don't buy it if you have any doughts
but fakes aren't limited to cels and autographs, i've been seeing them start to show up in the paper goods too genga and such, their not too common, but they do show up.....only way to tell is to compare them to know originals and they typicaly don't match (use worung paper or style) the time between when the show first hits the air and the realy paper goods start flooding the market is when they show up, people trying to make a buck of the pent up demand and with no real ones to camepair them too people fall for it
but oh well it's a problem in all hobbies, just part of life, need to be educated and carful

FYI, I saw more fake shikishi on YJ recently, so be careful of these sellers, and their auctions.

That's a stupid idea. Boycott the auction company because a small group of people chooses to sell counterfeits?iceman57 wrote:Simply boycott YJA...
How is it the auction company's responsibility to ensure that items are properly listed? Should they send a task force to every lister's address to make sure that the item is not counterfeit? Should they click on every listing and, using some mega database, run it against known legitimate versions? And how do you really do that when you have sellers that use crummy cellphone pictures of their items? Some items, such as Louis Vuitton purses, have really good counterfeits out there.
Most of these sellers have at least one negative feedback from selling counterfeit shikishi. And if they don't, they're probably a 'new' seller(the same counterfeiter with a new account), and in which case, you should be doubly sure to avoid them until they have a solid reputation.

Not at all, because...cutiebunny wrote:That's a stupid idea. Boycott the auction company because a small group of people chooses to sell counterfeits?iceman57 wrote:Simply boycott YJA...
Here we go...
1. They are counterfeits (and consequently counterfeiters) on this item's source.
2. No invoice available for collectible insurance policy.
3. Maintain the EDO era with the non japanese sale policy (back in the 19th century, yeahhh).
This is called "customs" and "counterfeit repression department", I've no idea of the exact department nomination in every country but customs generally handle the job.cutiebunny wrote:How is it the auction company's responsibility to ensure that items are properly listed?
Nope, they have "sell terms", you simply have to report an infringment on those termscutiebunny wrote:Should they send a task force to every lister's address to make sure that the item is not counterfeit?

They do it everyday on a parse selection of elements. I just landed in Berlin the last weeks and saw the "Ebay building" close to the airport, a tripod with 10 floors buildings. They are people in, working on...cutiebunny wrote:Should they click on every listing and, using some mega database, run it against known legitimate versions?
Japanese cellphones are the best on market, so they have to switch for a more recent one with a 5mpx cameracutiebunny wrote:And how do you really do that when you have sellers that use crummy cellphone pictures of their items?

Buy counterfeit especially on luxury goods is illegal and entertain child work, war and terrorism. Think about next time before to buy fakes.cutiebunny wrote:Some items, such as Louis Vuitton purses, have really good counterfeits out there.
By creating multiple accounts you can easily fool this and set your own solid reputation with hundreds of perfect sales.cutiebunny wrote:Most of these sellers have at least one negative feedback from selling counterfeit shikishi. Additionnaly :
Don't think I'm listing all of this answers to reduce the number of competitor on YJA on items, but this is simply a matter of wise choise as any company does with any supplier. Buying goods requires to balance prices and garanties with risks. I don't play the YJA game and encourage people to do so, simply to cut down this fake's production market.

If you're afraid of fakes you have to boycott Mandarake as well.iceman57 wrote:Simply boycott YJA...
YJ is only a safe place to win or buy Artwork if you deal with the right people there.

Ebay is closing the doors and cutting off jobs there in the next few months.

Mandarake company use the mention replica, and if by any bad luck you get a false art, you have an invoice for refunds and trials.Gabe wrote:If you're afraid of fakes you have to boycott Mandarake as well.iceman57 wrote:Simply boycott YJA...

Ja, ich hab schon gehört auf es, aber es ist ein ganz gross platz und hat schon dauert ein paar jahrenGabe wrote:Ebay is closing the doors and cutting off jobs there in the next few months.

I just focused on multiple fakes sources centralised on YJA, nothing more.Killua wrote:Bwahahaha.Sure, every art collector should boycott YJ! Meanwhile those of us who won't boycott it...[/size]
So to preserve more easily from fakes, simply cut down this source.

More faked shikishi on YJ. This is a perfect example of building up the positive feedbacks by buying lots of cheap items (20 to 100 yen) recently, and now he sets up an illusion that he is a reliable seller.

A few weeks ago, there was a seller that was selling signed shikishi of all the main characters from Slam Dunk. Since those ended in the $800-$1K range, there's been an upswing in counterfeits from that anime. Maybe someone should have mentioned to the counterfeiter that there should probably be some signs of aging on the shikishi as it was 'signed' 17 years ago.
Oh well, I guess the counterfeiters are trying to take advantage of the "Golden Week" bonus that many Japanese workers receive.

Another batch of faked shikishi, it is happening every week now, buyers beware!

Love the really bad Kishimoto signature. It looks like the artist couldn't remember the hiragana for his name....
