I gave my gallery the name "Cels of Sugar" because I wanted to focus on cute and sweet cels :) Should I ever decide to invest in more "violent" cels, I might consider changing the name someday.

It took me forever to figure out the name of my gallery. I wanted it to be related to what started it all (Batman) so i thought and thought and one day i saw the words "night vision" on a website somewheres. The longer it kept rolling over and over in my mind, the more i liked it. Im a daydreamer, so its kinda like seeing visions. So i wound up with "Knight Visions" and darknightcels for my URL. :D
idunno, maybe it sounds dumb but i enjoy it and i guess thats all that matters. :P LOL

great question!

I dunno Bell, I think it sounds alright and if it works for you well sod the world! Mines actually quite daftly named so strap yourself in for this tortured logic trip!

It's been interesting though finding out about the rational's behind everyones galleries, particually when it reflects there inner desires!

As mine's kind of obscure/daft I feel a little explanation is in order. 'The Monkey's Paw Cels' is named after a short horror story warning of the perils of wish fulfillment. I won't spoil it, but if anyone is interested it can be found here.

http://www.scaryforkids.com/the-monkeys-paw/

So for me I was simultaniously illustrating the fulfillment of wish, coupled with the perils of a dwindling bank account. :hurt:

I guess I'm one of few here whose gallery name (and nickname!) has nothing to do with cel collecting. I've been on a discussion list for vampire folklore/fiction for probably nearing 16 years now, and I was listowner of it for 5-6 years somewhere in the middle. On this list, we occasionally wrote group fictions using personae to represent ourselves. (This was when we were all younger with more time. LOL) My gallery/website, which I call "Drac's Blackhouse", actually harkens back to these list fictions. My persona is a vampire, Drac, who lives in a mausoleum that she calls The Blackhouse. ^_^

So you don't necessarily NEED something cel related. ^_^ A name from completely out in left field can be fun and a good conversation starter too. ^_^

Many Sharp Smiles,
--Drac

(Edit: I wanted to add..... YES! I love the Monkey's Paw story. I read it a LOOOOOONG time ago in a book of ghost stories I dug out of my parent's basement. ^_^)

Plays with Puddles for me came from my username I use being "Hot Ice." One day someone asked me "wouldn't hot ice just melt into a puddle?" from that day on that person referred to me as Puddle. So there ya go... Plays with Puddles came about because I like using alliteration.

I did debate between Cel Chateaux and Plays with Puddles, but I went with the Puddles because then I could theme the gallery and thumbnails around 'puddles' ^_^

Koneko, I really like the name of your cel gallery. I think it fits your collection and it sounds great.

I really like cel gallery titles that are creative - that have something to do with the collection but the link isn't quite apparent right away. I really like hearing the stories behind collector's gallery titles.

When I first decided to create a cel gallery I couldn't think of a title that I liked. Then one night I was listening to 80's Friday on a local radio station on my way home from work. This song came on called Obsession by Animotion. Its a cute little new wave song and the chorus went something like this "Like a Butterfly, a wild butterfly I will collect you and capture you...)

I just had to take the phrase "Like a Butterfly" for my cel gallery. Most of my cels come from the 80's so I think it fits perfectly. The song has become somewhat of a cel collecting anthem for me, lol. I play it every now and then when I make a new cel purchase. I know - I'm a nerd!

Sinfully Delicious is something I have always said when I should stay away but it's just so good, like Skittles. Back when I started collecting this was definitely true with cels. I have had the same gallery name since my main site, which is no longer there because someone hacked it and destroyed it. I no longer have the time to mess with it but here is the main page which explains it better than I can (minus the watermark).

Reads:

Main Entry: Sinfully
1: such as to make one feel guilty

Main Entry: Delicious
1: affording great pleasure

Edit: Oh and my nick was given to me by my husband years ago (not saying how many, lol). He started calling me otakusin because I was (still am) fanatical in everything I like or do... and I do mean everything, thank you so much OCD!! The sin part is just another form of my real nick cyn!!

I decided to change the name to one i've been considering for a long time - Gessekai. (Moon / Lunar World)

But to keep it with my other series, I've used song lyrics from Nightwalker, Sailor Moon, Graviation and Weiss Kreuz - hopefully it makes
a disjointed kind of sense.

I just like evolving my gallery over time - strangely enough, the 'Otherside of the Moon' was the name of a Weiss song, but I chose it to reflect my interest in Cardcaptor Sakura - with Yue being oneside of the moon, and Yuki the other.

So hopefully this new name will continue to encompass my collection - although i've left the URL the same as it's linked too many places to want to change it!

You know, it was only when I was driving home from work yesterday that I remembered that my favorite Weiss song was named 'Otherside of the Moon.' I ALWAYS forget it's name, hahaha (I only have a burned cd with no song titles labled on it for a copy.) I had one of those sudden 'OMG HOW LAME AM I??? DUUUUH' moments, haha. Anyway, loooove that song, you have good taste ^__^

I like Gessekai too though. One word names have always appealled to me. And I like the font you used for the new title, it works very well with the letters in your name (can I be a nerd and ask what one you used?? I don't recognize it and it's quite nice.)

Haha, it's not nerdish - I'm always going "oooh" at fonts XD
I used Galeforce for the front, and Script Bold for the inside. ^_^

I started out as Blue's Cels on a whim, and shortly after changed it to Requiem for Lost Souls. Which by the way reflects in no way on my collection :hitting: or very little anyway :^^: Requiem for Lost Souls is actually describing one of my favorite characters and the line he used most in the series. If I decided to rename again I'd probably steal my little sisters "Michief in the Making" they're not actively using it anyway /ho and it describes my buying habits nicely ;)

Personally I like your gallery's name, Otherside of the Moon, though whether it reflects your collection is all in how you perceive it
