how to resize photo image on rubberslug...

Post by theultimatebrucelee »

decided to update my gallery with my new camera but the images uploaded are huge!! I'm carious what everyone else do to make their photos normal size as shown on computer(already auto resized to fit screen). or is it a camera setting that I should change maybe? I'm using P&S and can't seem to find the option..

any tips appreciated :)

As you know...I mainly just upload YJ photos. :P

But for the photos that are obviously too huge I use the free Gimp program here:

http://www.gimp.org/

It works well enough for the simple things I use it for.

Cropping Photos:

1. File -> Open
2. Use rectangular tool to outline area to be cropped.
3. Image -> Crop to Selection

Resizing Image:

1. Image -> Scale Image
2. Input sizes needed
3. Hit Scale Button

Sharpen Image:

1. Filters -> Enhance -> Sharpen

(I usually only use 10, but often I don't even use it because it adds artifacts)

Then save the image at 85 to 95 quality (depending on what you need).

That's what I do anyway.

I've just found out that an image program called Irfinview on my computer does what you've mentioned. so I just followed your steps, very similar without any problem.

currently updating, slowly..I suck at this lol

edit: gallery updated :) sorry about the photo quality, best I can do for now.

enjoy :)

I use a program called Easy Thumbnails. You can scale the image down to whatever size you want. I would recommend using it to rescale your main image and thumbnail image. I wouldn't use the Rubberslug automatic make tumbnail option because it is not the best quality (but its there if you want it)

I'm a big fan of SnagIt, especially because it allows you to make screenshots of practically anything, be it DVD or stuff you're streaming online.

I use SnagIt's editor program for my thumbs. I edit the image down to focus on a particular character or portion of the image. Then, I dwindle them down to 150x120 pixels, then add a 4x2 border on them.

lol I guess I am a dork. I use good ol' paint to re-size then upload.

Been using it for so long now, I'm afraid of other paintshop programs 8O

I'm going to try out Easy Thumbnails and definitely SnagIt during my update, too many abilities and options would scare me since it'll take me forever to figure out, but these two programs sounds pretty useful. thanks a lot guys :)
