How much kept of what you've bought?
Out of all the cels and sketches that you've ever bought, how many of them do you have now?
I've bought roughly about ??300 cels and ??160 sketch sets. I've sold 2 cels/0 sketches with 0 traded/given away. So I've got about 99.6% of what I've bought.
Anyone have a lot of turnover?

Bunny secretly envies Keropi's precise figures...
Since I've begun collecting, I've....
- Sold 7 cels
- Traded 1 cel
- Gifted 2 items(1 cel & 1 Mamoru Yokota chibi shikishi)
(This does not count items I've purchased specifically as gifts or items I've bought due to a friend's request.)
I guess that means that I've retained roughly 99% of all items ever received.
Eeep...I didn't realize I was such a hoarder

I buy, sell and trade with some amount of frequency. I have no idea what exact percentage I have kept over the years - I wouldn't even want to hazard a guess.
When I first started collecting, I wanted one (or more) items from every series I'd watched and liked. Over time, I focused my collection, so most of those original pieces are long sold to new owners.

I haven't had a sale lately, but I'm contemplating one as part of a refocus, similar to Rei's practice. When I moved from being almost exclusively focused on CCS, I did go through and move out quite a few items that I'd bought early on in my enthusiasm for the series and for cels. More recently I've been more apt to take extras of no particular eBay value and simply give them to friends that I know would appreciate them. Overall, though, I've tried in more recent years to buy with malice aforethought, intending to value and keep these cels or sketches, rather than just a cel or sketch.
But, as I sort through my collection and see it in perspective, I'm finding that some are more obviously "keepers" for the long haul than others. A good question and one that we all need to ask every so often.

It’s hard to know exactly, since I don’t have counts on every sheet that came in large sketch sets, etc…I also haven’t kept good records.
I’d hazard a guess that I’ve kept 85% of what I’ve bought.
Out of what I no longer have, I’ve probably only sold about 4 or 5 things, the rest was traded or given away.

I would guess around 98% kept.
I have sold off only a few cels and gifted a few others.
The only series in my collection I'm looking to sell off is IY since I lost interest in it a couple of yeas ago.

"Like the wind crying endlessly through the universe, Time carries away the names and the deeds of conquerors and commoners alike. And all that we are, all that remains, is in the memories of those who cared we came this way for a brief moment." Harlan Ellison
I've sold exactly 46 cels/gengas and gifted about 4
Currently I own about give or take, 110 cels, and
80-90 sketch sets.
Not sure what my percentage is, but
the majority of the sales were made during my college
years whenever my tuition would increase and my
grants would nosedive.
I still to this day regret alot of the cels I had to
give up, but it was either pay the bills or add to my loans
which I am so happy I did not decide to do. I'd really
be kicking myself now had I gone w/ that option
seeing as thou the current economic situation.
Nevertheless, I still miss them dearly.
I won't say which cels/sketches they are because
they are currently owned by betarians here and I dont
want them to feel awkward about it.

I have more than 99%. I sold two cels that I never really had. In that, after I had won them, I was contacted and someone asked to buy them before I had even paid for them. I went ahead and sold them since it was a person I liked and they were very enthusiastic. I gave away a half dozen or so "junk" cels at a couple of cel collecting panels I moderated at conventions.

Ack!!!! I'm terrible with this, I'd guess maybe 60%,
life issues happen [drs,vehicles...], cels can be a quick income fix
when in a hurry, then there are the to-die-for cels that
come along, cels I want more than some of the cels
I already have, so I buy and sell alot, depending on
my interests at the moment and what comes along...
its certainly not a matter profit, that really
doesnt happen ever, usually I'm happy to break even,
even that doesnt happen alot
but I figure, I owned
said piece for awhile, and I enjoyed owning said piece, so
its really not a loss then, its a matter of constantly fine-tuning my collection
to what I'm into most at the moment, and realizing that I cant have everything I want
guess all depends on perspective
just my two yen...

Using the counts from my gallery, I have sold about 90 items and given a few as gifts. I have about 1100 pieces listed and several stacks yet to add so I would estimate I have sold about 6 or 7%.
There are a couple items I regret selling, but for the most part what I sold either I decided after I got it I didn't like it as much as thought I did or I had no problem selling when asked if it was for sale.
In a couple instances, I sold the item b/c I knew the person buying it wanted it much more than I did.

I'm going to take a guess and say I've sold about 15% and I'm trying to sell something like 30% of what I currently own.
I've made impulse buys and quickly run out of space. I've purchased some art that I like but don't have an attachment to, unlike those cels that give you that happy nostalgic feeling and makes you reminisce of the good ol' days when you'd spend practically every free minute watching anime.
Those were the good old days of anime.. I've got to try and get my other half sucked into the world of anime so I can get back into it. Fruits Basket here I come! (Yes, I STILL haven't watched it!)

I'm terrible at math
but I will say I suspect that I've sold off at least 75% of my original collection
Which I know seems terribly high, but my tastes took some turns, started dropping some series, and I started getting a little pickier about shots and well....stuff happens
Though lately I don't think I've been selling quite as much. I'm liking most of my pieces enough that if I don't need the money, I've no interest in parting with them. There are some exceptions, so I'd say as of now I'm probably close to 40-50% as a whole (over a six year period that's not as terrilbe
) Maybe higher maybe lower...like I said I'm mathmatically impaired

I've only sold maybe 10-20 cels since I started collecting--not counting those I got as freebies or in lots where I never intended to keep certain cels to begin with.
I've got a few more that I'm thinking about selling, but I really haven't had any luck recently in the sales department.
Then again it's been a while . . . maybe I should try again.
