To "die" for piece??

Post by ZombieBunny »

What piece or pieces of art (cel, douga, genga, fan cel, artwork etc..) in your gallery would make you rather have your leg bitten by a zombie dog than lose or give up?

What was it like for you when it first showed up?
Why is it your favorite?

I have three pieces.

Aya in Shower - I got butterflies in my stomach when I opened up the package and saw how beautiful the piece was in person.
The emotion from it is deep and I love her expression.

Chibi Mamoru - I still squee over this one whenever I see it. It is so sad what happened to his parents and how he lost his memory :l
You can see his little tears too. Again, I love the emotion of this cel and mamoru is one of my favorite characters ever.
(I see him as he is in the Manga!)

Kaname - What can I say? This is my favorite shot of him and I cannot believe I got the production piece.
Said it before and I'll say it again, emotion. Just love the eyes
You've finally fallen to the bloodlust of beasts...

Well, I dunno about the zombie dog but I can say that my strongest emotional reaction was to finally receiving :
http://hoard.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv ... mID=313024
An amazing moment in the series for my favourite character/s.

I also own this cel, which is still stamped with my old url lol... its very oversized and has for the longest time been one of my top favourites. I should rephotograph it:
http://www.usagis-house.net/jacml/membe ... ls/ash.jpg

Its really hard to pick a favourite so I'm going with biggest moment of elation upon receiving a cel. And of course, the simple fact that I cannot imagine at any point in my lifetime giving either of them up. :)

LOL that page is sooooo old! Even my cel has my Uni. URL on it. Free webhosting was nice tho.

Almost everyone under "E" loved Esca!

Mine would be:

2. http://kelly.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv ... mID=130801

3. http://kelly.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv ... temID=9112

I just can't believe I am so lucky to have one of them, much less all three! Of course there's a few more that I feel that way about as well, but those are my top three. Good luck prying them from my fingers.

As for cels, this page in my RS gallery answers your question. Some of the cels listed here I sought after for years, others I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. All of them made me extremely over-joyed when I received them. I doubt I could ever sell any of these.

My top cel picks

Looking through my gallery, I really need to add a similar page for genga/douga since more than half of my gallery is now paper. X|

I know one in particular that I would have to add, since I literally did a "fangirl girl dance and squeal" when I found out I could purchase it at AX 2010. *Remember, Gonzai!* Unfortunately, it isn't posted in my gallery yet.

Zombieland made me gain an odd sort of affection for the genre haha - that and Shaun of the dead :) Thanks much!

Kelly I am avoiding scanning my pan cels like the plague... my scanner is so small LOL. I will get off my butt when EVERY OTHER CEL is done, but right now I just googled "dilandau cel" and found the jacml pic of him. I had even forgotten my old domain name was zefilia.

Now THAT is scanning avoidance! :P

This is kind of a hard question to answer. My favorite cel depends on my mood at any given time. The top five for today in no particular order are

1) Iason from Ai no Kusabi (work safe image)
http://itamejihada.net/cels/ank/ank1c.html

2) Larva from Vampire Princess Miyu
http://itamejihada.net/cels/vpm/vpm1c-d.html

3) Shooting Star from Record of the Lodoss Wars
http://itamejihada.net/cels/lod/lod1b.html

4) Demon Snake from Fushigi Yuugi
http://itamejihada.net/cels/fy-tv/fy3d.html

5) Lir and MaBruk from the Last Unicorn

I'm with graymouser - my favorite cels depend on what sort of mood I'm in. But here are several which take my breath away every time I see them:

This pan background is definitely one of my top 10 pieces. I just love the Escher style and the eerie shades of green...

A hanken of Sakura in my favorite outfit, with two of my favorite Clow Cards:

I love the subtle anger of this sketch:
http://stemcels.rubberslug.com/gallery/ ... mID=237857

The movement and flow of this piece get me every time:
http://stemcels.rubberslug.com/gallery/ ... mID=125968

Gorgeous and pretty and exquisitely painted:

The level of detail and the perfect composition make this one of my favorites:
http://stemcels.rubberslug.com/gallery/ ... emID=59303

I never thought I'd own this piece in a million years. I love purple-eyed Hinoto:

Looking at these cels I can understand why you'd all rather be bitten by zombie dogs. I've seen some absolutely stunning pieces of art. Congratulations to all of you!

I'm doing one last push to sell some cels so that I can get my "keepers" back on RS so that I too can participate in this thread! Goodness knows how I'm going to choose a handful at most.

I kinda did this in my "Quirky Ten Years" tour. That has a number of pringly tingly OMG it's mine moments.

Notably:

Kitty Sakura
Syaoran's first appearance
Yue/Touya Power Transfer scene

Not in the tour but equally pringly tingly:
Koram gives Palme the Egg of Touto (from the movie A Tree of Palme)
Sango passes the tree (from Inuyasha Ep. 163)

Most recently:
Shinku and Jun (from the ED animation of Rozen Maiden)

I could add a few more. Maybe I'm just an easily pringled-tingled collector, but I think I've been very very lucky.

I wouldn't die for them but I fully expect them to by buried with me :hitting:
http://requiem.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=261107
Lavi Layout:
This guy was part of a set I was so in a hurry to bid for, I didn't see that it had a buy it now price :P I bid waaaaay over it and won them (because it takes the buy it price), but didn't know and starting freaking a bit when they disappeared from the search screen. Felt a little silly later, but elation won out big time. Lavi's my favorite character, and to top things off this is a favorite scene so this one is one I'd like to say I would rather have my kidney removed then part with him :hitting:

Lavi and Allen Shikishi:
http://requiem.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=247808
This one's just a gorgeous piece that I have a feeling if I ever parted with it...I wouldn't see it again. That and it started my little Shikishi hunt, where as before this one I rarely looked them up.

Orphen A1End:

My favorite episode and my favorite shot from this episode, when I found this guy up for sale I actually sold a couple of my favorites at the time to purchase him. My favorite of my cels I don't have any plans on every selling him :)

My collection has changed so much over the years, but there are still some pieces that have stayed with me, and will remain so as long as I have a say in it. :)

My first Suboshi cel, and still my favorite. I still remember how ungodly nervous and stressed out I was while trying to win it on yahoo japan so long ago. XD
http://www.rockman-exe.com/cels/2/suboshi.html

I must have a thing for bad boys... because this one still takes my breath away. :)
http://www.rockman-exe.com/cels/2/evil_tamahome2.html

My most favorite Tasuki, I just love his expression and intensity. @_@

Well I kinda find it hard to pick only a few but I will try to narrow the choice down a bit to just anime art.

From Ai Yori Aoshi

Aoi being the perfect Japanese Beauty
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... mID=145611

One of the most important early scenes
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... mID=125199

From Early Ranma 1/2

Ranma finds out Akane has a different side than she had shown before
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... emID=66768

Their normal
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... emID=37181

From AMG

A massive cel one a picture does not do justice to.
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... mID=209597

A Hanken Genga I never thought would appear on YJ.
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... mID=300273

I'll finish with a couple of Misc cels
Infurita from El Hazard OVA
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... mID=280161

All the girls from Pia Carrot DX
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... mID=252266

An image I fell in love with, knowing it would never surface I had it reproduced by the incomperable Nat R.
http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_ ... mID=234174

I also have the most memorable "banana" sequence from Girls Bravo that is password protected (pm me for the password if you would like it) that pushes right up to the line between ecchii & hentai.
"Like the wind crying endlessly through the universe, Time carries away the names and the deeds of conquerors and commoners alike. And all that we are, all that remains, is in the memories of those who cared we came this way for a brief moment." Harlan Ellison
