This is a street sign or marquee in a dark alley of a big city, where the little-girl-magically-grown-adult Karada has run away in the series Asatte no Houkou (Living for the Day after Tomorrow). I've learned enough kanji from CCS to know that the first one is "kaze" or "W- w- w- w- Windy!" Alas, my Langenscheidt's doesn't give any vocabulary beginning with this character that seems likely to appear on this sign.
Can anyone with a more adult knowledge of Japanese kanji help?

well the last four means (kanji 3&4)Final (kanji 5&6)Weapon..at least in chinese. the first two might mean native culture or local costume, if not then its a name but I'm pretty sure thats what it mean
"The sex industry's ultimate weapon" sounds just about right to me. For the rest, I don't have any context from the show: Karada is, as you'd imagine, terrified to have found her way into this neighborhood (and a creepy guy is being reeeeeeal supportive in saying that he knows where she could find a job right away and have a bed to sleep in tonight, yeah, yeah, I can imagine). Predictably, she makes her stay in this alley as short as possible.
So I'd assume the rest is standard formulas for sex shops and girly shows in Japan.
Maybe something about "Show your member's card on entry" (so as not to risk being busted by the authorities?)
Yes, I've liked this series ever since I saw some fansubs back in 2006. It's just been released by sentai filmworks (no dub, subtitles only). Gomen if I snatched any out from under a Betarian's fingers. They are nice and are getting better treatment from me than this scumbag is likely to give poor Karada outside the porn shop.

It wasn't from me that's for sure. I already have my three sets from it. Not sure if I'll be getting anything else from it unless something really noteworthy or different shows up.
I used to save the pictures of the sketches from it, but there got to be so many of them that I gave up on it. I don't even save auction results or descriptions anymore. I only the save the pictures so I never know where anything went or for what amount.
I just enjoy the sketches.
I like the anime more than the manga. The manga's story is a little weighed down by the increased number of characters. I prefer the paired down anime version of the story. But who knows...maybe the ending of the manga turned out better.

The first line is easy: "Cephiro Castle."
The third line is the episode number (38: Eagle's All-out Attack on Cephiro Castle) and the indication that it is a "rough" rendering of the scene rather than a fully finished landscape. (It's still nice.)
The last line is, I'd guess, the date when the concept art was submitted (July 7) and a cursive initial by the artist.
The second line is the snag. The first two characters are "funsui" or "fountain" (i get no points for that, since that's what's in the center of the watercolor and my Langenscheidt's gives the Japanese for "fountain"). The third is "no," the possessive. What are the last two characters?
So: "The Fountain Plaza" or "Fountain Square"? That makes perfect sense, and the kanji look to be a good match. Thanks, vampyreshoujo, now and for many favors in the past!
Anyone know if "Fountain Square" still exists in Cincinnati? I remember being taken in for ball games at Crosley Field and spending the night in a hotel there. Shillitos, the big department store, was right across the street. My older sister remembers being in a college riot there.

I remember it mostly from the early 60s, notably 1961 when the Reds won the National League pennant and got to be destroyed by one of the strongest Yankee teams in history in the World Series: it's a point of Cincy pride that Bob Purkey managed to silence the Mantle/Maris/Berra bats for one game, so it was not a total blow-out. It was in its old location, between two busy streets, and then much later on, I think in the 80s, I saw it again and was discouraged that it seemed smaller and visibly delapidated. It's good to know that in 2005 it was refurbished as a walking district, which is what it should have been from the start.
If Hikaru had met Lantis in the old Fountain Square, they would not have been able to hear each other in the din of honking horns and truck motors, and poor Mokona would have surely been squished in one of the are-you-ready-to-risk-your-life pedestrian crosswalks.
