Moon Dreams gallery is closed (For good)

Post by Starfighter »

Hi Guys,

I have decided after careful consideration to pack up the gallery and close. I'm not in the mood for someone to steal my images again. This way I stop it before it could begin again . To the person who did this in the past everyone now knows about it. Info in the cel community tends to get around like wildfire. To the person or person who have stole images and sold fraudalant cel items Beware it might not be me who stops you this time . I'm sure there is someone out there who will stop you. What your doing is as close to stealing as possible.

To everyone in the cel community I wish you all the best of luck. May you all find what your looking for and to Zombiebunny congratulations I wish you and your family well.

Take care .

I will keep posting here every once in a while.

To avoid this, I use small scans and password protect the larger images. It's significantly cut down on these types of issues.

Hi Karen,

Well that is a really good idea, but the first time this person stole my images it was on rubberslug and I had all those password protections in place. If someone relalyw ants to steal an image there is always a way to do it . Also with the internet all you have to do is ask the right question and it tells you how to do it .

But thanks for the idea.

Star,

I am sorry to hear that you are closing your beautiful gallery because of ignorant people out there.

I hope you continue to build your collection though.
Thank you for the well wishes ^_^

Have a great one ;)

continue doing what you think is best for you and your collection as a whole. as per this person thing, i still hope it works out in your favor.

idk bout you guys, but i put some serious coding into each section in my gallery for each show. then i followed up later on each piece under Artwork Mngmt, and put in more code for almost every item. on top of that, i upload a max size of ~500x350 and used that shrink image thing Jason put in there for us to use.

Idk if it works, but at least i tried. lol Jason must think I'm trying to code up for Fort Knox or something when he siffs through all that crap. lmao

It's just a game of cat and mouse.

If I really wanted to make a fancel out of a pre-existing image, all I would need to do is pause the frame. With Sailormoon, though, the image quality of most of the DVDs is poor. However, some people, like myself, have DVDs made from the remastered video, and because of the new, official Japanese remastered DVDs being released, it's only a matter of time before everyone will have access to the higher quality material. With better video quality comes easier ability to pause and accurately see the detail of each cel frame by frame. When making the gifs for my gallery, I was able to do it for all but the SuperS season(the Pioneer SuperS DVDs have poor video quality).

I think the best way, sadly, to protect yourself from seeing pirated versions of your items running around is to not provide information regarding sequence numbers. Yes, anyone can pause the frame or make a screenshot of your image, regardless of how much HTML code you throw in your listings. But without the sequence number, it makes it harder for people to sell it as if it were real. That would require that the artist go through the sequence, count the number of frames used, and, if there were multiple layers involved, they'd not only have to be able to recognized it, but have an accurate count of those too. Most counterfeiters are lazy - they're not going to sit through a 150+ cel transformation sequence and count it out. They're also not going to sit around and try to pull out your watermark. Most image thieves don't have the patience to sit around and pull it out.

I'm sorry to see your gallery go offline again, starfighter. I know that many people enjoy visiting your artwork and its unfortunate that, due to a few idiots out there, the community loses out on some great artwork.

this is also true.

but, what conterfeiter is actually going to sit there and count frames as well if they're just going to rip off the image (watermarked, broken into pieces by code, etc.) and reuse it? especially if you take the time to crop out the sequence numbers in your scans.

coding may not be the best method, but that's the limb i went out on. nothing is full proof.
