Where O' Where have all the cel shops gone?

Post by Animechaos »

I must just be out of touch. Going back to cels.org and looking at all the old school sites just makes me feel.....old. lol, and I started AC when I was 16. :(

So where are all the good shops now? Been doing all my buying through my own service and I haven't really bothered to look. They just gone? Or do I need to bring back Anime Chaos? (...not gonna happen...probably...)

... gone to DS's, every one.
When will we ever learn? ... When will we ever learn!

In truth, gallery offers really seem to have become the more likely way to add nice pieces to a collection, rather than dealer sites. Though I admit that Curt (Asylum Anime) adds eyeworthy material to his site about twice a year. But the days of sitting at the keyboard and hitting "refresh" every minute of so to watch for a dealer's site to upload new material really do seem a pleasant memory of the past.

'scuse me, I'm watching something on Yahoo Japan...

Yes, sadly there are only a handful of cel dealers left. Most have either stopped updating or disappeared altogether. And the few left rarely update. :(

I am sure it is an extremely remote possibility, but I would love for you to bring back Anime Chaos. As crazy as it seems, I really miss those days of raw adrenaline and panic as you desperately scramble to type up your order as fast as possible.

I miss it but don't at the same time. Some folks would have orders in before the update even completed. Bigger updates took me a couple days to fill. And...ug....when I had the final "closing" sale it took me 10 days to get all the orders filled. It was crazyness.

Was fun though. Best thing about being a dealer was that I got "first pick" of all the goodies. :)

I miss yet don't miss it too, lol. I remember your site updating every other friday like clockwork, Nick. I remember rearranging my day, and eventually even writing computer program to alert me. I loved the thrill, but hated the stress, lol.

Ah the old days! Check those websites! Check! Check!

Now it's like walking into your neighborhood painting gallery. Just about the same things every time. Same visitors, same place, same thing.

A lot more anime are available nowadays too so people's interests are more diverse and collecting doesn't overlap as much as they used to.
