Post your favorite AMV
Hey everyone,
Don't recall seeing one of these before so thought why not, I could be wrong though. Post your favorite AMV, can be from Youtube or anywhere really. Why do you like it? The song fits the character (s) or show? Is it just great quality or really well edited?
I literally could post hundreds of DBZ AMV's as there are just so many out there but I will go for just two at the moment.
This one, a tribute to Goku:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um8s3tpg0lQ&feature=fvst
I like this one for a few reasons, I think it's very well done with great editing that fit the lyrics well and timed very nicely.
It looks at Goku as a father and husband over a fighter which is nice to see.
I like the song.
I think it is very, very accurate, when you consider Akira Toriyama actually intended to make Gohan the central protagonist after Goku sacrificed himself to kill Cell, but changed his mind as he felt Gohan wasn't a strong enough character to carry the series.
He obviously knew when writing the story that Goku is such a great character and Gohan would like to be as great as he is but just couldn't really. It's true, he is always the real hero who pulls trough at the end.
Although Gohan ultimately becomes stronger than him by the time DBZ ends, he will never have his fighting instinct or be a natural hero and leader.
So the song communicates how Gohan probably feels about his father as he always like refers to him as the best anyway.
Next one will come shortly...
What are yours?

My favorite are purely nostalgia
The Distance by Cake (Speed Racer)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AMh2Ho346c
Baditos by the Refreshments (Lupin III Castle Cagliostro)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDAg7ayczLw
I think they're both by the same person. I can't actually watch the videos from this computer, so I'm counting on google to give me good links.
There's one I'd really like to see again. There was an old video to the song "Hair" (title song from the musical) using 70s and 80s anime. I remember seeing it at anime club in college.

Gee I don't know. I've never had any obvious favorites. Also when it comes down to it I haven't really seen very many AMVs. Most of the AMVs that I've usually liked the most were the videos that I liked the song and thought the clips from the anime added to the song. So I may not have liked very well crafted videos, but they were the ones I liked the most because they usually left some kind of emotional impression on me.
Some of the AMVs I've felt the most for were the really early videos I seen on VHS tape way back in the day about 11-13 years ago:
Dragon Ball - Hero of the Day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3inn-SqijSU
Only Yesterday - Forever Young
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkg4fh68HFU
--------------------------------------------------------
This Shuffle video is a lot more recent (SPOILERS for anime and game):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCINv3Oqro0
No super duper editing job here. Just music and yandere clips. I like it though.

Hey Sparta. , good to see you're still around, I'm good thanks, hope life is treating you well too. Has been quite a while.
Epic DBZ AMV the Requiem for a Dream one. Never seen that AMV, great song for DBZ though. Nice quality.
Also quite like this Broly AMV:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mkpIn0oZmA
Song, Animal I Have Become says it all really. Fits him pretty good, he's a psychotic beast.

Nope, not it. This was long before a lot of those shows existed. I remember it definitely had a lot of Leiji Matsumoto, Area 88, maybe some Iczer, and I think maybe Dirty Pair or Ako.irmgaard wrote:jcaliff wrote:There's one I'd really like to see again. Ah, I was afraid of that , judging from the shows' vintages. I can certainly see how a great one could be made with Leiji Matsumoto stuff!jcaliff wrote:Nope, not it. Talk about "Long, Beautiful Ha-air!"
I remember we had a post like this a couple of years ago, and my favs are still the same, mostly comedy :
From Berserk -- Sondheim and Sadism meet and greet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avYiHUkas18
And two others from the same AMV guy...
El Hazard's megalomaniacal genius in top form:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypGWEXFpxyA
And Black Heaven work-a-day grind wit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W_wd9Qf0IE
Not comedy, but I also like this driving Mononoke one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw4ve_1gWec
and this early Naruto character and fight montage:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_gdjAoeZ_M
Guess I'd better put up somethin' I didn't put up last time... so ...
this Naruto one makes me giggle...

We've had one of these threads before but I think it got deleted with the changes. Thanks for starting a new one. I love watching AMVs on YouTube. I have so many but here's my current obsession.
