Translation request for Eureka Seven auction

Post by Jarmel »

I noticed this(albeit too late to win the thing) and was wondering if anyone could somehow translate the description. It's a pretty cool piece and I'm a big Eureka 7 fan so I'm somewhat curious.

All I can figure out is that the signature is by Eiji Nakata and that it was for the 25th Anniversary of Animedia. I can't tell if the whole thing is an original piece. Thanks I guess. Sucks I missed this one.

I think the drawing is pre-printed, but the autograph is genuine. It was a winning prize for Animedia's 25 Anniversary. The seller says that it was acquired from a friend and that on the reverse there's Animedia Editor's official rubber stamp and item winner's (=seller's friend) name written in pen. The original packaging it was received in (envolope etc) is also enclosed and it's being sold due to personal reasons. Hope this helps ^^!

Thanks for that. Are shikishi normally pre-printed?

Yes, there are shikishi that are pre-printed. A lot of them are handed out at promotional events, like signature sessions in Japan, and everyone gets the pre-printed item signed. Unlike in the US, where most guest artists generally sign anything that isn't a bootleg, the rules in Japan can be more stringent.

A lot of pre-printed shikishi is easy to detect because it will have copyrights listed somewhere (generally the bottom portion) of the board. This one doesn't have that feature.

As to its authenticity, I like that the auction includes a picture of its original envelope. Most counterfeiters won't go to this extent.

But the price, if it's just a pre-printed shikishi, is pretty high. Though it's not unheard of, there are some artists whose signature alone can command insane prices.

Hmmm. So chances are this was pre-printed but not mass printed. This topic has been informative in general.
