Spice and Wolf update

Post by Yupa »

I recently received two complete cuts of the anime Spice and Wolf. I love it because I can clearly see the production process in it. Thanks to Sensei for helping me with the terminology.
I'm not sure if anyone would be bothered by it, but let me warn you that Horo is completely naked in the first cut.
You can find all sketches here.

Of course it's a bit boring to go through all those almost idential douga, so I downloaded a few free trial versions of picture editing software and used it to combine the different layers and make animated GIFs out of it.

Here is the douga for episode 2 cut 54 (63 frames). Please wait if the first time is a bit slow, it's a large animation.

Here is the douga for episode 4 cut 139 (37 frames):

Very nice additions, Yupa!

I especially like large cut of Holo playfully turning around (and teasing Lawrence). That's a particularly fun scene from the series!
I'm also quite impressed by your elaborate presentation and commentary of these sequences.
Looking forward to seeing future updates!

Thanks! I'm very happy with it, so I already bought another S&W set (110 pages), which I should receive tomorrow or on Thursday. :D

Okay okay, but I was comparing to all those beautiful cels from other galleries. I specialize in artwork from recent series (within the last 10 years), so that means most of my collection will be rough sketches and settings. But I might've been a bit too modest.

Thanks!

I have a new Spice & Wolf update! When I visited Mandarake's main webshop I saw that they had several S&W sets cheaply prized, so I quickly bought one (I'm regretting now I didn't buy more ;)).

This set consisted of three complete cuts. Here are the links to the four-layer animations I made with the douga:
Episode 5 cut 247 (45 frames)
Episode 5 cut 247 correction (45 frames)
Episode 11 cut 214 (45 frames)
Episode 11 cut 222 (4 frames)

If you're interested in the full production process you can also find all layouts, roughs and genga of those cuts in my gallery.

Very nice! Ah, so was the ブレ, Horo's tears? or something else?

My motto (excuse) with Mandarake is "Grab them all cuz there are no deputy fees!"

When I look at the anime I see Horo going up and down in the wagon, so my guess is it has something to do with that. It was a strange timechart, I still don't know what to use the A2 and B2 douga for, but even without those I like the animation. You can't expect big animations in S&W, so I'm quite happy even with those small animations.
