Earthquake in Virginia
Anyone here affected by the earthquake. Please let us know if you are ok.
I didn't feel it cause I was on my friends boat. My mother said she felt her house shaking. No damage here in Long Island, NY.

Nowhere near the area but surprised me to see the East Coast on the news
regarding an earthquake!
(and also got me wondering how many Californians and Nevadians are laughing
their butts off over the whole thing)
Never knew there was any kind of fault line other than the San Andreas
and New Madrid in the US. Learn something new everyday

Wow. That is an odd place for an earthquake. I hope no one was hurt. I expect most people in the area are not used to them at all.
Re: Earthquake in Virginia
I didn’t feel it but my mom did when she was at the hospital (we're in New Jersey) She new exactly what it was since she had lived in california as a teenager, she said it was shaking pretty bad and they evacuated.
the story she told me of the lady sitting by her bugging her eyes out and running screaming down the hall was pretty funny…

There hasn't been an earthquake on the East Cost in a long time. Now we're supposed to get a Hurricane/Tropical Strom on Sunday. What Next ???
Seems like Mother Nature is having her 'fun'.

I was driving at the time and didn't feel it either. I saw the news and I was like, "There was an earthquake?!"

Re: Earthquake in Virginia
If you're driving during an earthquake and if the earthquake is big enough usually it'll end up feeling like something is wrong with your vehicle - like you're having engine problems. Then all of a sudden you'll see a bunch of brake lights in front of you and almost everyone will slow down at the same time.
Hopefully you're never in an earthquake that's big enough that objects are breaking down around you...especially the overpass you happen to be driving on.

Re: Earthquake in Virginia
never felt a thing, didnt know it happened til I heard it on the news break, kinda disappointed
that I didnt even feel it
The general [over]reaction on the east coast was rather embarrassing,
there was basically no real damage to speak of nor injuries, just crazy hysterical people fed by
overactive news reporters.
that being said, still, it is not a common occurance here in the East so people can tend to get a little crazy

Re: Earthquake in Virginia
Neither I nor my wife felt anything, but the lifeguards at the local pool said it was very noticeable there, particularly as the vibrations set up very odd and noticeable ripples in the water.
Spent all day moving things in the garage up one level in case Hurricane Irene sideswipes Cephiro, as it's predicted to do this weekend. I may even take time to actually put together an "Apocalypse Now" cel book in case we're asked to leave before its arrival. I don't think we will, and we are not in the most vulnerable flood-prone zone. But we are not far from the Sound and if flooding gets substantial we may be asked to get out (with Kitty Sakura under one arm and Ole Jesse under the other).

I was drinking a cup of tea and my sugar bowl spilt. I'm still waiting to hear back from my insurance company.
