Bidding on Ebay.fr?

Post by toonybabe »

Hello! I have recently come across some amazing Inspector Gadget cels up for auction on Ebay.fr that I would like to bid on. Does anyone know if it is possible to bid on Ebay.fr auctions with my US Ebay ID? I am still trying to find out if the seller is willing to ship to the USA. They actually have a gallery on Rubberslug but I haven't gotten any response from the emails and gallery feedback I have sent.

I've been looking for quality Inspector Gadget cels for a few years and now there are some really nice ones available - but I am totally cut off! It's hard to watch them passing me by. /pif

If they offer international shipping, you can use your regular eBay ID. I bid on ebay.de and ebay.co.uk all the time. :)

Thanks ReiTheJelly. I just translated their auction page with Babel Fish - it looks like international shipping is unavailable. I might just have to sit back and drool over them. :l

Are there any deputy services in France? Maybe someone here on the forum can act as a deputy for you?

edit: You can also try messaging the seller thru ebay asking if they’d be willing to ship international I’ve done this before in the past and had success with sellers not selling outside their countries :)

This. Asking sometimes yield positive results, in my experience. Often, the seller has never considered the possibility that they'd make more money at auction by opening their bidding to foreign customers. If you reassure them that you're willing to pay higher cost international shipping, they're usually willing to let you bid. Many sellers don't offer international shipping because people would win and then complain that shipping costs were too high and flake out. (this is true of US sellers, too!)

Send me the link and the seller e-mail, I'll translate. I don't think that shipment would cause a problem, only price may change.

Sometimes, after you put an item in your watch list and you go back to ebay.com, the listing will then tell you, in English, whether or not they ship internationally :)

Thanks Iceman57, D123, ReiTheJelly and Sugarcels!

I sent a message to him through Ebay but have heard no response. If he keeps putting up such amazing cels for auction I might have to find a deputy!

So here are replies:
- He is totally OK for buyers out of Europe.
- He charges $50/60 extra for overseas shipment (post is quite expensive in France).

Thank you so much Iceman57!!!!! I would be willing to pay that in shipping to get a couple Gadget cels in my colllection. I almost never see them for sale here in the states. Apparently the Inspector has a much bigger fan base in Europe. :jump

I am watching his auctions - I'm afraid to bid too soon as he puts up new cels each week - I don't want to miss out on a really good cel. Would you be willing to ask him how I pay if I win an auction? Can he accept a Paypal payment from me even though I am in the USA?

Thanks again!! :yourock:

Why don't you ask him for direct sale at a set price.
By increasing the amount of cels, he may maybe reduce the price?

I can't spend too much right now - the shipping and exhange rate will really hit me hard. I am just looking to get a few (even one or two) great Gadget cels into my collection.

I may say that buying american (and potentially japanese) these days being in Europe is a damn good opportunity.
