Cels from the new Evangelion series

I've seen them on Y!J from time to time - where do they come from? Are they real? I thought new series were done on computers.

Gainax also sold some EVA art to Mandarake in the past but never released art from the newer shows they have.

Hey Sletia,
Those Evangelion cels you are referring to are very well-made fan-cels (fakes).

Who ever the real creator/painter is, be it the seller themselves or a friend/associate of the Seller, they have access to the original source materials; such as character sketches & paint/colour tones to match or get as close to what the studio actually produced not only for the latest re-imaged movies but the TV series as well.
So good are some of these 'fan-cels', that Seller's of genuine Evangelion cels have had to include the sequence numbers in their descriptions & photos as proof of their legitimacy.

A bunch of naked Rei's from that first Shinji-Rei encounter has been released over the last couple of months. Recently they have taken to copying other Evangelion cels that have been listed recently on YHJ as well as certain scenes from the Evangelion re-images.

If you are not sure of legitimacy, check for a sequence number in the photo - these do not have any. The Seller has also uses different IDs in the past.
