Best Acquisition of 2011

I have been searching for a cel from this short for YEARS, and finally, I found it this year, 2011!!

Although it is incredibly hard to pick just one piece, I would say that this is my favorite acquisition from 2011 (not necessarily the "best" cel):


I have been searching for a cel of The Mirror (from CCS) since I first began collecting 8 years ago.

Such a perfect, gorgeous Hotaru. I had been lovesick over it, especially since finally watching the Stars season.

However (and I hope this isn't too OT), I also have a huge, very special non-cel acquisition that I had been searching for for exactly ten years to the month now:

2011 was really a great year for acquisitions for me. I can still hardly believe it!

I've been crazy busy (not just with the Cel contest) and am trying to find time to put up my "2011 in review" gallery tour. That includes naming the gallery/acquisition of the year. It has been a very tight decision, and I've gone back and forth, actually hauling out the books to look directly at a few top-runners, laying them physically side-by-side, trying to decide. No final conclusion yet, but I'll put up the finalists:

Sensei ... I'm with 'ya on the crazy-busy thing. The holidays and all the assorted / associated stuff are killing me this year. I'm still struggling to find time to put my year in review section together, too.

Anyhow, for me, it's kind of a toss-up. I acquired a few things that really, really made the cel-addicted fangirl in me do the excited sqweeling thing. If pushed, though, I would have to say BEST acquisition for the year is a toss up between:

This section of Orphen Hanken Cels. I got all of these during 2011 ... something I still can't believe.

And this Aya Opening Cel from Weiss Kreuz. This one was a cel that belonged to a dear friend, and I was lucky enough to adopt him this year.

yes, as stated, this is a really tough question....and Sensei I have no idea how you're going to be able to put those cels
you've shown in any kind of order they're all excellent!!
I guess for me it is also a toss up between a few special pieces but if I HAVE to choose I'll go with this one

My best acquisition is my pan cel of the diva Aphrodite from the last episode of the Cyber Team in Akihabara series. She didn't come cheap, but almost all wishlist cels are like that .

My best aquisition is most likely a Spice and Wolf Horo transformation sequence, which you can watch re-animated here [NSFW].

Other aquisitions that I like very much are:

Lion (Arcadia Saga PV) (douga sequence re-animated here)
Vocaloid Lily (m.o.v.e - Schwarzgazer AMV)
Ringo (Mawaru Penguindrum) (matching background here)
And of course my first and still only cel: Yuusuke, Noelle, Mikael (Tenshi ni Narumon)

This is my best acquisition of 2011. When I first began collecting Ayashi no Ceres cels between 2001-2003, this was my ultimate wishlist cel. Kurt from Asylum Anime had been kind enough to hunt it down in Japan after I showed him a screen cap. A1/END, background, sketches, layout, etc. It was perfect!

Then life got in the way a couple years later, and I sold my collection in order to go to college and move out from home. I started falling back into the hobby late 2009, mostly in 2010. This year the prior owner of this cel put her gallery up for offers, and sold this cel back to me.

So, in short, this is my ultimate wishlist cel from way-back-when and now. I'm beyond happy to have him back in my cel books. Eeeeeeeeee.

I'm all for an Aoi/Kyouichi relationship, so when this TM sketch came up, I knew it had to be mine. Kyouichi is anything BUT subtle, but this quick scene shows me that he's gotta thing for Aoi!
