Hi
I wanted to frame a couple of my best cels and mount them on my living room wall. It doesnt have direct sunlight but i assume it will still inevitably make the cel fade. can anyone link me to a shop that either sells UV protected glass/perspex or film i can put on a standard glass picture frame. Or should i not bother and keep them in a folder safe and sound? Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.
thanks

Re: UV protected glass frames for displaying cels
I've bought UV Non-glare Acrylic Americanframe.com and it seems to work well but I don't frame many cels at all, I'm too worried about sun damage.

I'm not sure what manufacture of acrylic this is. There's Museum grade acrylic that cels *should* be used when framing cels with but I've been told it's pretty hard to find elsewhere. SR Labs has it.

Re: UV protected glass frames for displaying cels
I use Americanframe.com for all my framing choices. They offer UV non-glare and regular plexiglass. I usually buy the UV Non-glare glass because it takes down from a lot of the yellow light reflection in my house. I have framed maybe 30 pieces so far with American Frame (give or take), including my vintage Disney cels and have had no issues at all. Just be sure to get the measurements correctly when measuring the frame and the artwork.
Also, just a tip: Only use the acrylic plexiglass material. Never frame your cels in glass.

There are manufacturing plants located in Europe.Mackettric wrote:I'm not sure what manufacture of acrylic this is.
