Will they release newer DragonBall related artwork?

I was just wondering today. The new Episode of Bardock special and the 2008 Jump special (Son Goku and His Friends Return), obviously they have sketches/genga from production even if the final result is done digitally and there are no cels. Do you think TOEI will ever release this production artwork? Will we ever have a chance at owning any of that stuff? I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some nice artwork of SSJ Bardock! I don't honestly know how this kind of stuff actually ends up getting released in all the years I've collected.

It'd be cool if they do. I think it's great new things like that are coming out and keeping the franchise alive and popular.

If Toei still release the artwork officially like what they did with Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z back in the day then theres a good chance artwork will come to the open market soon.

I think there's a small chance that you'll see new Dragonball sketches.

I haven't see a lot of production related materials from recent (year 2000+) Toei productions released. I've seen a handful of roughs from various incarnations of PreCure, One Piece and Demashitaa! Power Puff Girls Z, but considering the amount of episodes that some of these series have, you would think that there would be oodles of stuff out there despite Toei being CG.

In regards to recent Sailor Moon stuff, despite the Sailor Moon World promotion in 2001, PGSM-related stuff in 2002 and the revival that's happening, worldwide, now, I haven't see anything - hankens, etc. All the artwork that has come up for sale, like the hankens on Mandarake BWAs, are all from the original anime run.

So, this makes me wonder what's happening to all the artwork. The likely conclusions are -

1) Toei shreds/burns its sketches. I'd normally go with trashing, but I've been to their studios and that trash is under lock and key....(whistles) Not that I was thinking of going dumpster diving...or anything

2) Toei has put its best stuff in a "rainy-day" vault and will only sell those items if/when the studio finds itself in a financial crunch.

3) Toei has already sold it to Japanese collectors for a significant price.

4) Aliens. (Been watching far too much Giorgio Tsoukalos on the History Channel)

Haha, it HAS actually been about 10 years since I actively posted. (See my post count? lol). It's been probably 5 since I almost completely disappeared. A LOT of changes in my life have happened! I now have a pretty cool little job working with my all-time favorite band that I befriended in the past several years, that and I moved across the country. I was just a wee lad when I joined this forum and I'm almost 28 now. Tme Flies! Anyyyyway!

I have bought odd things here or there but not on an active basis since 2006 and I haven't bought anything in 2 1/2 - 3 years. I am thinking of getting back into it however! I'm really only interested in Dragon Ball cels and artwork however (as I mostly always have been). I'd really like to get my hands on some sketches from that 2008 Jump Special. I personally really enjoyed it!

In regards to TOEI releasing those new specials, as a sidenote... It's been pretty awesome to get some fresh Dragon Ball and I really really hope they keep it up. I have been crossing my fingers on a new series, possibly penned by the woman (whose name escapes me at the moment) who did the Bardock special. Ideally of course, I'd love for Toriyama to return to Dragon Ball but at this point I'd say that is unlikely. Although the 2008 special (being written by him) certainly gave a gleamor of hope! (is gleamor a word? I don't think it's a word)... That's why I like that special so much, it has the Toriyama vibe and it plays off the characters, which is my truly favorite part of Dragon Ball and the reason I love it so much!
