I can honestly say his writing had a very profound effect on me and Maria. For the last several years we had the chance to meet him and spend some time talking with him for our local bookstore was a favorite of his and they held a party for his birthday each year.

Great talent, better person. R.I.P.

JWR - That is SO COOL that you've met and had conversations with Ray Bradbury. What is he like? I love his stories, especially Something Wicked this Way Comes and the Halloween Tree. So sad that he is gone. I can't believe we lost him AND Maurice Sendak all in the same year.

What was he like?
Best way I could describe him is that even though age was taking it's toll on his body, he never let it affect his mind which remained sharp to the end. He wrote every day, enjoyed a good laugh and was a very fun person to be around. Even though he was "famous" he never had that "air" about him. We used to talk about old horror and sci fi movies a lot, he always enjoyed movies.
