Play with your cels

Post by evilgordo »

Just finished a personal project that might be of interest to all you fellow cel collectors.

So we've been buying, selling and trading these sheets of painted plastic over the years (sorry Digi-Ink-n-Paint-show collectors). We wrap them in more plastic and stick them in plastic books, but before all that, we usually scan them, for archival/inventory purposes and so we can share them in cyber-space with those interested in seeing them :D .

Personally, I like to add a background of some kind, if I am unfortunate not to get one with the cel (which 99.9% of the time :l ), so I have all these scans with transparent backgrounds lying around. Well, walking down the game aisle one day I was struck with inspiration! There must be dozens if not hundreds of Uno theme decks; SpongeBob, X-men, Transformers, Hello Kitty, South Park, Simpsons, etc. each with usually a single character for each number/Wild/Reverse/Skip/Draw2. And sometimes even have additional unique 'special' rule cards!!

Well, that's what I did with my cel scans*, I made my own Giant Robo themed Uno deck!
*Full disclosure: I used digital scans included on a DVD for main character portraits, since those were not used in the actual anime (and I doubt I will ever see those in cel form). And I took a couple of screen grabs for the box art (I do not own those cels) The rest come from my personal collection
