Thanks, everyone, though JD's good wishes make my poor head swim. (First tests, which screened for MOSDS [Maturity-Onset Sudden Death Syndrome) were all negative. Meantime I'm doing less time than usual with my laptop and taking more and longer breaks until this stretch of dizzy spells breaks.)

It was, as usual, a quiet and undramatic day, with a nice seafood dinner out, a tasty spice cake baked by my wife according to directions on the back of the box with occasional bits of advice ("Do I really need to use three eggs?!?") and a small pile of gifts, none anime-related, except for a $25 gift card for Amazon that I plan to blow on manga. One small batch of "anime crap" is on the way to me from my daughter's house, though.

Here's wishing for a healthier and happier 2014 for all of us!

Thanks, RA, KP, and AO. I'm two to the fifth, or eight squared, which reassures my body a tiny bit. (And have now outlived my father and most of the male relatives in the previous generation by twelve years and more, which is also a very good sign). Here's looking forward to lucky thirteen times five!
