1. We need a name suggestions would be highly appreciated!
2. Does anyone know who owns the keys to the Beta facebook page?

3. Also we need some more volunteers! Don't make me break out my pom poms!
Yes, this is NOT meant to be an RS successor at ALL. The problem with creating an RS successor is not just the time it would take to develop it, but also the data storage and bandwidth (data storage volume and the issue of hosting adult images). Despite a lot of folks being willing to pay, I sincerely doubt there are enough who would want to foot the real cost of running what would have to be, essentially, an enterprise-grade server. My suggestion is to teach people to use what is freely available from companies who are willing to give out that kind of bandwidth & storage for free to create their galleries. The site would be meant to help those people SHARE those galleries with the rest of the collecting community without actually hosting the galleries themselves. Make sense?Angelic-Lair wrote:Okay, so no gallery hosting. What exactly would this be, then? It seems that the draw of RS is the gallery hosting combined with the interactive features all on one site. Dropping the gallery hosting sounds like a bad idea for a RS successor (one opinion).
We understand the intent is not RS 2.0, but we aren't clear about what this might become. It should be awesome. ^_^
Yes. Right there, you seem to get the ideaAngelic-Lair wrote:If we're set on staying away from hosting galleries, there should definitely be a section on creating your own gallery (sites to go to, like Wordpress, etc. and maybe some site-building tutorials), to at least tie in the gallery feel. Maybe a section of gallery links for member sites? Sort of like a Rolodex of online cel collectors. ^_^
I would not put it that way. Since Anime Turnpike did close a year ago it did create a void as a one place to go to find links to information on anime sites such as thru it I found Roberts Anime Corner online shop I still buy from today, found dealer sites as well as information of series I knew nothing about.Angelic-Lair wrote:Thanks for the links, JWR!
And yes, that looks like what's being described. Not exactly bringing cel collecting into the 21st century, is it?
Totally agree with this and I would love to see what you guys end up coming up with! It would be great to see a site that's more in tune to the modern types of social media. I'm mostly on FB and Instagram. I couldn't get into Twitter, and I visited Tumblr once and almost immediately gave up on that site lol.zerospace wrote:
What has become evident to me while selling a lot on eBay these past 5 years or so is that there are SO MANY collectors who aren't on RS or Beta or anywhere, really, except social media and similar kinds of sites (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc, etc). I get a lot of images of people's existing cels shared with me via these means. So my thinking is, if we want to see these folks be a part of the cel community, we need to reach them with modern communication methods (which isn't BBS's anymore).
Seeing as I've never used Instagram myself, your insight on how it works would likely be useful!nowherekid85 wrote:Totally agree with this and I would love to see what you guys end up coming up with! Wish I could contribute somehow, but I lack any sort of skills that would be helpful.

Funny but what is it when someone starts their comment with "No Offense" you know that what is to follow will be an attack.Zerospace wrote:JWR: No offense, but seeing as you are Jason and RS's biggest cheerleader, I'm not exactly surprised at your lack of enthusiasm. If you aren't interested in this, please leave this thread and those who are alone. There's no harm in what we're doing, so why the negativity? If you're so sure we'll fail, then why not let us just fail?
