Hi all,
Does the feedback form on the RS galleries actually work ?
I've been trying to send myself a test message using the feedback form but unless there's a delay it doesn't seem to be working.
I am presented with 'Feedback Sent' once I hit the 'send feedback' button but I'm not getting any mails.
Cheers !
-Kim.

Hi Kim! Now that I think about it, I don't remember receiving replies from the few people I asked questions to on their feedback form since the site went up. If there is an issue with the feedback form, great catch!

Re: Rubberslug moving
I do know that there was an privacy issue, as curators complained that the feedback links, being public, were prone to being used for spam solicitations, mostly for pornography or for cheap (or free) Viagra/Cialis. It was frequent and irritating enough that I changed my email preference to a system that had a very thorough system of identifying nuisance messages and filtering them to a "Spam" folder. To the extent that I now routinely check this folder for the very occasional legit. feedback message from RS.
That said, I did receive a legitimate feedback message as recently as June 21, 2017, so the system was functional then. I'll mention the concern to Jason on FB and get back with his assessment of the issue.

Hi,
I figured something out ... since it was working for some users I've been testing out some stuff.
I changed the email address in my profile to my work address and tested the feedback function again. It immediately worked.
When I changed back to my personal address the feedback function didn't deliver any mail once again...
So, possibly the mail relay won't send mails to my domain (which is a .be domain) ... or my ISP is deleting/dropping the mails before they arrive in my inbox or spam box.
Anyway, I've changed my profile to my work address (which is a .com domain) for now and I guess I'm good for now.
Thank to all for testing.

Jason (via FB) replies:
It's because it's probably coming from my home internet address and email providers think it looks like spam
I've been doing hurricane recovery work so haven't been able to keep up with this, sorry
I can fix it but it won't be until weekend

Re: Rubberslug moving
Feedback hasn't worked for me since they beefed up the security, so now I just give my e-mail on the feedback page.

According to FB, Jason is working on the feedback issue and finding it a bit of an archaeological dig, with 2001-era software language from the original creation of the site still (somehow) speaking to a 2017 community of Internet devices. But progress is being made.

Update from Jason:
The hilarious/bad news is that this is sitting on Windows 2000 which does not support modern HTTPS encryption protocols. I literally cannot create a secure connection to any other computer on the internet.... and I'm trying to make it send e-mail. I'll have e-mail up... eventually.

Additional report from Jason via FB:
Quick note, the e-mail verifier isn't working at the moment on Rubberslug. I've manually approved all accounts created after July 2017 through some database manipulation. I'm not 100% sure I did it right so let me know if you're still locked out (if you were waiting). I'll try to finish a more permanent fix for this this weekend. Sorry about that.
